Where do you put your Thermacell in your treestand (climber included)?

Where do you put your thermacell? On the foot platform under your seat? I would be worried about kicking it. Do you have something rigged up to keep it close but still out of harms way? The mosquitoes are the worst I ever remember this year and will be using the thermacell while hunting for the first time.

Under my seat, and I do occasionally kick it. I need to invest in the holder

According to the instructions it is supposed to be lying flat on it's back during operation. Doesn't look like this holster would do that.

The holster I thought was just for transportation but not when in use.

I use the holster to hang it from a branch as well. I take the straps and move them to the front of the unit, Use the buckle to expand the straps as long as they will go, then wrap the strap around a branch or screw in step. That way the unit will be hanging flat by the strap. You sabe?

Fits perfectly right behind my seat on my LW hand climber...lays flat. If I'm in a hang on, I lay it flat on the platform as far back under the seat as possible. I don't usually put my feet that far back so it is ok most of the time.

I been using the holster and wrapping the strap around the support bar that bites into the bark. This will be my first season with it as well. Should've brought it with me today while out scouting, bugs wouldn't leave me alone the entire time.

You guys haven't had any issues with deer spooking on these things? I just bought two of them and could smell the scent coming off of them some what easily which made me a little curious about animals smelling them. I'm wanting to use it on my elk hunting trip but didn't want to ruin it if the elk could smell/spook off of the thermacell.

I just got one, but I hunted turkey with a wounded warrior this spring who kept it tucked in a pocket in the blind we were in...

I can see why it should be flat (now that you point it out)...but, well, I didn't read the instructions.

You can smell yours? Interesting. They make earth scent FYI.

From what everyone says it does not spook deer. Also keep in mind it burns hot and hot air rises. One thing for sure is I am going to find out this year. :fro:

Yes it can be hung in a way where it is laying horizontal like Dan said.

I can't smell it while it's sitting somewhere and I'm just hanging out by it, but if I put my nose close to it I can. I figure a deer/elk has WAY better sence of smell then me so if I can smell it from up close they can probably catch the smell if it was burning in the same area for a while or depending on the wind. I would love to use it this year, our masquitos are terrible.

I use the harness and hang it from the where ever I can, platform, tree branch.........one thing is for sure, I will be getting another one because they are think out this year!

Brad, make sure you fire it up BEFORE you leave for your stand so it heats up and is working before you get to your stand! Takes a good 10 minutes!

I haven't used one yet, around here in boone county illinois, the mosquitos will carry you away, but I do most of my hunting west of here. I don't know what it is, but the mosquitos on this particular farm never really bother me, so thats what has kept me from getting one. I'm sure one day I will though.

Even if you don't need it for hunting I would get one for in the backyard, camping, hunting, fishing, parties, you name it. My Thermacell isn't just used for hunting.
