I'll typically do it where they lay unless there's a convenient spot close by such as the bottom of a ravine, field edge, etc.

I guess you could say at the shop, but I don't really ever gut them.

Got them at the campground and then put the guts out in the slew for coyote bait.

Right where it lays or move it a little if it's more convenient for a coyote pile.

Same here, besides pictures look better with a "full" deer. We've gutted after photos before in the woods but now if possible we always haul out of the woods just to minimize any chance it deters movement whether it would or not.

We will always gut where it falls. I have shot deer standing and sniffing the gut pile of a deer I shot the previous day. Didn't seem to bother them too much. Then on years like this year where you can only take one deer in MN, it's nice to hunt the gut pile and try to do some predator control! :)

It all depends on the situation. If its a big deer and I am by myself I will probably gut it where it lays just to make getting it out of the woods easier. If I have help or its a smaller deer I will take it to a field edge and do it there. Then once we get back to the house I will wash it out and hang it up.

I usually gut it right where the deer lays. Where i hunt, the gut piles are usually gone by morning 99% of the time.

we have a spot in back of a barn by an old brush pile we generally bring deer and gut them, its an area not really hunted. We also dump carcasses there after butchering.

If I'm solo and have a big deer to deal with, I'll gut it where it dies. But I prefer to not have a gut pile right by a stand.

Just depends on the situation. If it's a property where I'm hunting a mature buck and I've shot a doe, I'll remove it from the property and take it to one that I'm comfortable with.

Otherwise, I'll just gut it where it falls.

I do both, gut'em where they lay or load up in side x side and take them to a more convenient area.

I keep a few water jugs in my truck under the back seat at all times. I gut them where they lay, then use water to get out the remaining blood and anything the body cavity scooped up during the drag after I get back to the truck.

We can get a fourwheeler within 75 yards of any area of our property so we have started to drag to wheeler, take home then gut. No chance of get any meat dirty mid drag. I did mine this week up in out parking area. My biggest concern is just to get the deer out away from the majority of deer asap and keep it clean. I could care less if there was a gut pile near the stand otherwise. I dont think there is a wrong answer here. In my case our woods is so wet right now there was no way I was gutting it where she lay. I actually drsgged her through more brush on high ground to keep her clean vs. down the underwater trails.

Early season I will gut them where they lay to get them cooling quicker. Once it cools off I will often bring them to the house and gut them into a wheel barrow in the garage so I have light and running water. Also my wife likes me bringing them home so the kids can help and come into the house all bloody.

Good points. The situation determines the right option for sure.

I've had bucks walk right past a gut pile and not spook but I've not seen them walk by it two times in a row. If I'm hunting a mature buck and I happen to take a doe first, I'm not dropping the gut pile on the same farm.

Our club has a skinning shed with lights and running water and all of the other propertys I hunt are within 5 miles or so of the club so I always clean the all there.
