Where do you aim when you shoot a turkey with a bow ? Some people say aim for the leg joint and others say aim for where the feathers on the wing turns from black to dark. Also is it OK to try a head shot with a 1 3/8 inch fixed blade ?
Sounds like you've got the general jist of where to aim... where the hip joint meets body is always really good, and I also like right below the waddles and above the beard when straight on. My 12-year-old absolutely CENTER-punched a big KS Rio last year with a Rage Hypodermic on video and we never found the bird. If he'd been two inches higher or two inches lower, the big gobbler would have probably wobbled off and died in sight. I also like shooting straight on from the back between the wings but you've got to be careful when they're in strut; in that case, I send on right up the butt.

I like to think I'm a decent shot but I wouldn't take a neck or head shot on a turkey with an expandable. Remember you have to hit the bulls-eye to get those blades to expand. With fixed or mechanical bh's I've been most successful shooting them either facing or facing away from me. Facing me I aim just a hair above where the beard comes out of the neck and if they are facing away, and strutting, the tail feathers make a very nice bulls-eye where they all come together. If they are broad side a friend of mine once told me, "Hit em high, watch em die, hit em low, watch em go". Here's a pick to help with shot placement.
