Before bow season, I was seeing bucks everywhere. Now none, but does! What's going on? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Many things can change buck's routines. All summer they can be in bachelor groups, but when they shed their velvet and start getting ready for the rut, they be come less tolerant of each other. When the season opens, bucks can adapt to the pressure but moving mostly at night. Finally, as we get later into October some bucks may start to wander hoping to catch the first few does as they come into estrous. Some with leave their summer range entirely. It could be a number of things. Be sure you hunt the right wind, have good entry and exits from your stands and as long as you're still seeing does, November can be dynamite!
Welcome to my world. Bucks summer on my property. Usually I have anywhere from 10-20 different bucks that frequent the property on a regular basis. When they begin to shed velvet, they disperse and most are never to be seen again. Usually there's one or two that will end up showing back up and using it for their fall territory. This time of year, I always ask the same question you are asking, but I have come to expect it and understand it. One thing to help hold out hope is knowing your property holds the does, then you know they bucks will be back. Most likely you will start to see more buck activity around Halloween. FYI, I pulled one camera chip from a good location. It had been out for for almost two weeks. I didn't have a single buck on that camera, so your not the only one.
Yep, food sources change, they naturally disperse, pressure from other hunters, weather, etc., can all impact pattern changes.
