Just got home. Since I will be in Ohio on election day my wife and I went this morning to vote early. On the way back there was a white Impala behind us and it was all over the road, sometimes driving in the wrong lane and sometimes on the shoulder. We whipped into a gas station and let this lady go by and we got back behind her. We watched her almost rear-end two cars, run a red light and almost cause an accident and then cause three other cars to take the shoulder to keep her from side swiping them. My wife was driving, so while this was going on I tried to call the Munford Police with no answer. When we crossed into Atoka I tried to call the Atoka Police with no answer. Finally this car pulled in at Burger King so we drove around and drove through the parking lot. When we got to the car the door was open and a lady was just laying there in the seat. We thought maybe something was wrong medically so we walked over and this lady was obviously either still totally drunk or extremely hung over and she stunk to high heaven. Not just the alcohol smell, but she was definitely in need of a bath or a shower. Absolutely nasty. When we realized she was not having a heart attack or something along those lines I said "You know that you just ran a red light and almost caused a wreck, right?" She muttered something about her eyes being bad and she couldn't see because of the sun. She got out of the car and that's when I noticed that she was wearing her Burger King uniform. Are you kidding me? This lady is going to work here? I eat here sometimes! I walked in and asked for the manager. A nice looking younger lady came to talk to me and I explained what we'd just witnessed and that one of her employees was obviously either too hung over to function or still drunk. I also said that based on what we just smelled I wouldn't want to eat there again if someone with this level of personal hygiene was working there. She was genuinely concerned and she assured me that she would take care of it. This is turning out to be an interesting day.
Call the local donut shop. Bound to find some there. But on a serious note. Dial. 911. The urgency of the situation i would consider 911 as acceptable.
I considered it, but I wasn't sure this situation qualified. I've called 911 twice in my life - both times for accidents I witnessed. You may be right, but I wasn't sure at the time.
Oh my god that's crazy but dies t surprise me. I'm glad you pulled in there and confronted her a lot of people wouldn't I've called the cops twice when I've seen stuff like this it's just ridiculous to watch. Your call might avoid someone from getting killed by these idiots. I can't believe 2 police stations didn't answer that's weird???
Well, Munford TN and Atoka TN are very small towns. The dispatcher was probably on the phone with Momma or watching a soap opera. This whole evolution only covered about two and a half miles, but the speed limit was 30 and 40. If she hadn't stopped when she did then 911 would probably have been my choice.
Wow, you probably just got a lady fired who was up all night with a kid with stage four cancer. The alcohol smell was probaby from her nursing her husbands leprosy wounds. Way to go Chief!
I would have called 911 for sure. That is just rediculous. Glad no one got killed. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
Man, your fortunate she didn't rear end you or worse. I bet she got sent home and drove just like that the whole way home.
Well there you go as to why someone may have not answered the phone. It seems like you have some issues with cops and the government, which is cool if that is your thing. Myself, I am big believer in reducing the overall size of the government, however I choose not constantly rip on cops. If those localities are smaller then those few officers were probably out answering higher priority calls. You did the right thing stopping and telling her manager.
You couldn't be more wrong VS. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement officers. What I said was just a little tongue-in-cheek humor regarding the "Mayberry" small town environment I probably should have added a smiley after that statement.
The general rule is: Anytime you want a police officer to respond..... you call 911. I've seen a lot of crazy stuff on my trips to Chicago and back, particularly when I'm traveling past 2am. (people going down the wrong way on the interstate.. that kind of stuff) I have yet to call the cops on other drivers... but that's because I'm lazy and a bad person. You definitely did the right thing.
Call 911 and when she stopped take the keys and throw them on the roof. I wouldn't have given you grief for it.
