If you feel you have scented up an area that you want to hunt, more, or later, how long do you wait before going in? How much rain? I often wonder if a one-time disturbance is enough to push him out to another area. Thoughts?

I try to hunt the same stand about 2 weeks apart as to not over hunt an area.

I killed a doe in a stand last weekend and am gonna wait till Friday evening before I hunt it again. It will be roughly 2 weeks in between hunts on that stand. It is a great spot, but want to give it time before I go in again.

I understand that part. I usually only hunt certain doe stands more than once a week. And not all of those see that much attention. I am talking about scenting up an area that you have not hunted yet. How long do you wait before going back in?

Depends on your area...I think a good rule of thumb is a solid 8 days of no intrusion.

Consider this, a buck generally completes his "circle" of his core in 5 days..So, if you're not there the next 2 times he comes back through, he's probably going to shrug the first encounter off.

However, like I said before, depends on the area. I have areas I hunt where I can literally bump a deer in the morning and hunt him that afternoon, because they are used to encountering and smelling humans.

Other spots I hunt, I can only go in with the absolute correct wind. Everything must be right, or I'm wasting my time and I'm going to spoil that area for some time...

No matter what- if you have the ability to let the area cool off, maybe hunt a different area of the property, or, another property- do it..

    Stealth is our friend !!
