They could have fired him for his comments on anus and vagina. That had nothing to do with religion.

Imo; he would never win the court case.

Freedom of speech case would never make it to court.

It does not matter, he said it. One cannot hide behind "It's in the Bible", the Bible is not to you(me) as it is to everyone else in the world.

Your value of the word of God is not everyone else's, that's the piece we missed as Christians. It's the piece that is driving people away, not because they don't believe, but they don't want to be preach to by the religious faction's. We really don't give people a chance to discover God anymore, we're too busy yelling at them about it and they cannot hear him.

 

A&E's statement was about the LGBT community and his comments on homosexuality, I didn't see anything where they suspended him for those comments. All he said in regard to black was that he didn't see any mistreatment of them and they were happy.

 

All religion is protected by the Civil Rights Act Title VII. It's not hiding, the law was put there in place for a reason. It protects Muslims, Jews, Christians, etc.

 

Oh ok, so because you guys say it makes it 100% correct? That's not debate, that's ignorance. Listen, I'm not saying I am right or wrong, I am debating the topic at hand. I am trying to use law to my argument, life doesn't have white area and black area - it's all gray area (and dangit I don't mean race).

Is this case, yes, we are 100% correct. There is no infringement upon Civils Rights or Freedom of Speech in this case.

If I'm at work, and I say something racist or ant-gay, my employer has every right to fire me. The question is, if I say something while I'm at home with a bunch of friends and my manager finds out through the grapevine that I said something racist or anti-gay, would they have the same right to fire me? I do not believe so because I was not working for them, nor representing them at the time. Depending on the contract, it's hard to say if Phil is always representing A&E, or only while working on the show.

 

I know I wasn't there. And Phil was not in the same situation as them, so he should not comment on their emotional state for them.

 

In LA, my employer can fire me for anything. He doesn't have to give me a reason.

 

If I say it in public and it hurts the brand of my company, I am gone. Companies pay millions to build their brands. Why do you think Tiger lost all those endorsements.
