The Civil Rights Act isn't limited to just public or just private companies - but both. But I understand what you are saying (he has the right to believe in it but not necessarily say them in public) but I would argue that this was unrelated to the network, which makes me wonder how the contract is written then because is he representing the network at all times or only during sponsored events, during filming, on network time, etc.

This is delusional, my employer can walk down right now and fire me, suspend me and tell me to go pound sand.

    It's called right to work.

Pff, come on man, right to work has to do with labor unions, it doesn't mean it oversteps The Civil Rights Act and you could be fired for your protected rights.

No one said it was. Where did that come from?

Far from it, I'm not a developer.

This it's not called right to work, what the hell is it called.

There was a project manager here last year. The owner did not like her and had enough after a meeting, he fired her right there on the spot.

Umm, no, not even close. He didn't "say whatever he wanted" he was paraphrasing a Bible verse from the doctrine which his religion is based on. That would be like being fired by a boss who is an athiest for saying "Jesus came down to earth and died on the cross." Is it not? Of course you can't just say whatever you want. If it's not under one of the protections of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, then of course you could be fired for saying it. By no means, not once, did I say that anyone can say whatever they want and be protected from being fired.

What the hell, he said what he wanted and it got him canned, it's just that simple.

Yeah I guess. That would be a really crappy boss, but that boss would have that right.

Just trying to figure out where you're coming up with the logic in your arguments. That's all.

Well, suspended - yes. I'm not sure if he was actually canned or where it will lead but we don't know how his contract is written or all the details that only he and A&E know. But no, he wasn't just saying whatever he wanted, he said what was already written thousands of years ago, paraphrasing of course.

Are we just going to ignore his comments about how happy blacks were int he 60s? Everyone seems to be ignoring this. He wasn't suspended just for his gay comments.
