Nobody was wrong. This entire thing was justifiable. This is why I do not understand the outrage.

 

No one said that. Whats being said is, Phil has a following because of how he lives his life. Do you not understand that most people are upset that Phil is being punished for answering a question?

Not a fan of the show but I applaud his comments. Whoever don't like it can kiss off as far as I'm concerned. I'm sick of a tiny minority of mentally distorted sicko's having so much power and influence. They are all sicko's...plain and simple. There's no stopping point to where the socially acceptable madness goes. Why stop at accepting homosexuality...why not accept bestiality or whatever feels good?

Because it's wrong...that's why.

I know of another historical figure that was persecuted for his beliefs and that spurred the largest religion on the planet.

He still has that right to free speech. Is he in jail? Nope. He employer decided to suspend him.

No. His employer suspended him because a tiny minority of the country got offended and pressured A&E.

 

How is being suspended for speaking your mind not have anything to do with free speech? If you are admonished or action taken against you for speaking your mind, it has EVERYTHING to do with free speech.

I'm guessing something in the contract somewhere allows A&E to pull this off, I think they screwed up in that had they supported him or just stayed neutral all of the shows/Phils fans wouldn't be pissed at the network. Not that they care but they might.

Bravo? No I haven't. I have watched A&E, but I've never watched Duck Dynasty. I don't duck hunt and to me, the show looks goofy.

You can agree with Phil and still have the understanding that A&E has every right to do what they did. They are his employer. If they don't like what he says, they have every right to say "hey man, why don't you go sit in the corner for a bit"

I just think it was beyond stupid of them to do so. The Robertsons are a tight knit bunch. Idk how the current contract is but I'd bet my truck that they do not renew with A&E now. They lost their golden cash cow over this. They better hope the short term effects of boosted viewing (Chick fil A) helps offset losing them long term.

But back to what i said before, this is a special circumstance where the Robertson's are probably more powerful than the network. Do you REALLY think the Robertson's care about what network there show is on? Or if its even on the air at all? This has obviously turned into something much bigger then a show about a duck call manufacturer. Its left vs right.

In the end, this is a stupid business and PR decision by A&E.
