I know it is still early but I think Tyler and I will do a little snooping Sunday. We can get in and out of a few feeding areas without bothering the deer or pressuring them. Not going to get to serious yet about tromping for sheds but will scout up areas and get permission. That way once the bucks start dropping we can hit it hard.

When will the rest of you start looking ??

Been out twice, maybe 6 hours so far?

Found two dead bucks, saw 4 bucks with both horns yesterday.

The couple hours I was out yesterday was mostly to get a feel on where the deer are, we got a nice dusting of about 5-6" of snow on Thursday so all the trails were freshly marked on where the deer are right now, will hit those areas hard in about 30 minutes :D

Been out twice so far as well. Total of maybe 3 hours.

Found my first shed in the first 10 minutes of looking this year..!!

Liitle guy... but was kinda cool. Found a few drops of blood in the first bed I looked into... traced the tracks in the snow back 40ish yards and BINGO.... stepped right on it! :D

Will be a while before I get out again... another 12" of the white stuff added within the past few days.:(

Congrats on your first shed. I've never found one back tracking blood from a bed or stepped on one in snow before seeing it. Was it buried in the snow that you stepped on it ?? Tyler stepped on the tines of one buried in ice once. I remember tripping over a couple sheds buried in tall grass. As I was falling on both accounts... I remember thinking it's gotta be a shed. :) Tyler watched me wipe out with the second one and was laughing his arse off until he seen what had tripped me. The laugh was replaced with the look... what a lucky slease bag/rolled eyes. I just grinned as I held up a 57 inch 5 pt shed with a broken off brow !! LOL I'll take them any way I can find them !!

Sorry to hear about the two dead bucks. I found one a couple weeks ago while bowhunting. We generally find 5 - 8 shed hunting in a year. Good luck with the shed hunting.

I may start looking tomorrow. I'm not only trying to find some early drops but also that buck I shot back in the end of October. My only goal is to really find him.

If I was only shed hunting....end of Feb.

Say I've gotta drag an old post up for you from last spring in reguards to an aging/score question from you of one of the bucks we had a history to. Stay tuned.

Depends on what you consider "looking".
Right now we have a foot of snow, but I did some hiking this weekend just for exercise. I wasn't really shed hunting, but I suppose I could have stumbled on one.
I figure once the snow eases up, I'll walk the dog in the areas I found a few last year & see if I find anything again.

I'm "looking" right now, but that's just jumpin around to predator sets :)

I'll start really LOOKING when the predator huntin' slows down.

I've gotten a couple pictures of bucks on our cameras that have already shed. Our bucks usually shed in the first couple weeks of January but I'm trying to postpone my adventures until a) I get a new camera but more so because of b) I hardly ever find any and I don't want to get burnt out:o

I've got 7 in the bag already...

But then again, I'm a total badass. So, I guess it's no surprise that I'm doing so well this early on.
