I will shoot one the first chance I get, why wait until november when they are being chased to exhaustion being bred? It's also a great way to get any unforseen kinks worked out of your system, like a tree limb that is in your way when you draw, or your harness tether is too loose/tight or etc.
I like to shoot them early. Gets some fresh meat in the freezer, and they haven't been bred yet. I'm not squeamish about finding a fawn necessarily, but most places I hunt, the buck:doe ratio is skewed. Just makes sense to me to not kill a doe that a buck has already spent a lot of time on.
