When to start using a decoy?

I have a couple decoys I planned on using this year. When do you guys that use decoys start to put them out? Also, morning or evening for using the decoy. I have the flambeau boss buck decoy and I have the rinehart doloma decoy. Let me know guys thanks!

 

I have a Glendale buck target/decoy and use it all year round ( hunting season of course ) without the antlers. It seems to have a calming effect on the deer in the food plot. It brings them in. Not sure if it's curiosity or what. I will be using the decoy with antlers when I get to Illinois this weekend... my thinking is pre rut.

I think the pre rut is kicking up this week. I went out into the thick stuff last night and then saw several fresh scrapes on my way in and had a great night in the woods. Had bucks going at it in the woods just couldn't see what they were.
