I have my stands in place two months before I plan on hunting them unless I plan on cutting a bunch of lanes then I will hang them at least three months ahead. It depends on the pressure the area gets, the more pressure the earlier you should hang them

I believe it also depends on the amount of human activity in the area. One property I hunt my family is constantly making firewood, etc throughout the summer and fall. Many times we've been making wood with deer within 75 yards browsing through the property. In areas like this I wouldn't be as concerned, in areas where deer are seldom in contact with human scent then you can't get them hung early enough. A way around this is hanging them during a rain storm or just before, should wash the slate pretty clean.

Good point, just yesterday I was cutting the grass and there was a large doe that was feeding and I got as close as twenty yards and she just looked at me a little nervously but then went back to feeding when I went the other way

The only problem I have is getting my stands stolen if I put them up a month, or 2, in advance.

We cut firewood durring the spring and sometimes early fall. We always have deer all over our loading area within 24 hours of us working there. If it rains between times we are out loading, there are tracks all over the loading area the next time we go out. I still hang stands early though. All of mine were hung by the end of June. I do have one more to hang this season though. I also have climbers I use durring the season deepending on the wind.
