New to the sight but not the show. Watch every show on ROKU down to earth and straight forward love it. My question is i have an older bow (8 yrs) i don't shoot all year long but do start practicing at least 2-3 months before the season. So how long will a string last and when can you tell it's time for a new one? Second question is i shoot with a whisker biscuit rest i would like to switch to a drop away or some other rest. What do recommend with a price range of $100 - $150?

Depends on how much you shoot and how good of care you give it. I don't shoot a whole lot but I still replace it every other year. That's with good care. I try to keep it clean and wax it often. One dead give away that you need a new one is bad fraying.

RipCord makes a nice rest for around a bill

Regardless of how much you shoot eight years is pretty long time to have the same string strung.
You can order a well made replacement for under 100 from one of several good builders.

I change my target bows each year and hunting bow every other year. Anything over 5 years and it's anyone's guess what could happen. Every year we have customers bring bows in with 5-10 year old strings that look brand new except for the fact that they have broke. Changing strings is alot like changing oil in your car. Simple maintenance will keep your car(bow) at peak performance.
