Archery equipment is like golf clubs, snow skis, baseball bats, etc. Some are of better quality but the equipment doesn't make the archer, golfer, skier or ball player. You already have a good bow. Any difference in a new one will be minimal and more of a factor of new "bells and whistles ".

I am sure there is a point where a bow becomes a safety concern due to age but with the material they are made out of, that's many many years. The bow I currently shoot is somewhere around 10 years old with no issues. My backup bow is closer to 17-18 years old with no issues.

I participate in quite a few hobbies that require expensive equipment (bicycling, photography, skiing and bowhunting)

They all have good suppliers of equipment and expert marketers trying to convince you that you gotta have xxxx (whatever the latest and greatest is at the moment). not sure if it's because they are better marketers or if we are just a gullible marketing sector, but imo, bow hunters are the most easily persuaded out of those groups to fork out money for new stuff rather than enjoy status quo.

Funny how most of us took up bow hunting because it was more challenging, but once we get hooked we are on a constant mission to get every gadget and upgrade to make it easier. And don't think I am being condescending. I am guilty myself. Just making an observation....

On another note. I seem to grow attached to the tools I use, especially when they do their job so well! Even carries over to my truck. Thing is paid off and in great shape so I keep thinking of trading it in and then I think.... where's my loyalty? Lol

I'm still shooting my 2007 Hoyt Vectrix, and have no plans of replacing it. I put new Winners Choice strings/cables on it 2 years ago, so I'm good for a long while. This bow has been a joy to shoot and it's as quiet as a church mouse!

I agree. My PSE Bow Madness is a 2010 and still shoots perfect. Just get a new string every 2 seasons and you'll be fine.

I agree with Shocker here. There's something special about driving a pickup with nearly 300k miles....And that's kinda what bow hunters are like...using "old technology" in a time of latest & greatest. I always enjoyed having friends hunt with me that had all the newest & best archery equipment, and when they would see the old no name stuff I was using successfully, it felt good. I got a new bow two years ago & don't get quite the same satisfaction. I guess I feel like archery shop owners can get new equipment every year or two much cheaper than the rest of us , and they want our money. It's fun having new stuff, but feels a bit better getting supper with "ol' reliable".

I used my bear lights out for 9 yrs, and it's still my backup. Just bought an elite this summer and the change has been nice.

kennys40acres I agree with you. The "latest and greatest" is definitely trying to influence me to buy a new bow. I really like my bow but I don't agree with dumping more into it. I'd rather buy a whole new rig instead of add on to what I got.

I agree with you to a point. If it's over 5 to 8 years old I'd rather get a new bow!! Off it isn't buy new accessories....Again I stand to be corrected But just my thought on it
