The rut has been on for approximately 2.5 weeks now, and my question is whether it is too late to rattle or not in an effort to attract bucks? Thoughts?

I only do it during pre and peak of when I think the rut is in. Otherwise I feel it might spook a big buck. Just what I do

I feel the same way. I'm afraid of spooking game by too much calling. I liken it to the idea while I'm turkey hunting the less calling the better. At least that's how I've had my best success. I'm debating the rattling idea with an in-law and wanted everyone's thoughts

Your main problem isn't rattling but debating with an inlaw. I deal with mine by just smiling and nodding.
