We must be talking about a different movement. All the BLM crap I've seen around here is centered around protests/riots. A low life drug dealer dies while in police custody so they hold signs saying black lives matter while burning down buildings in black neighborhoods and attack fans at Camden Yards. Then just to make the evening complete they throw **** at the officers who are there trying to protect the residents of these neighborhoods from their protest/riot.

I think your full of Sh*t on this one. It's easy to say that you would welcome it, but that's because you don't have to. Just because you are being paid to do a job, doesn't give the government the right to invade your civil liberties. You say in one statement that you don't like the "militarization" of the police, but then you seem to think body cams are a good idea. The more power we give to big brother, the more problems we are going to have.

The BLM movement is based on a false premise.

Body cameras on cops won't solve anything until people stop playing the victim every time they have a run in with the police. Yea its sucks most times getting stopped but 9 out of 10 times if you shut your mouth for 5 mins the conversation is over. If your really not doin anything wrong then don't get a attitude, it's pretty simple.

We have teachers who molest their students. Let's get body cams for all teachers. We have Congressmen who lie cheat and steal. Let's get body cams for them. We have corrupt judges...body cams for them. That being said my dept is getting body cams soon. Only thing they are gonna see on mine is how many people I counsel instead of arrest. In fact they are probably going to want to know why I am not issuing tickets to people who are driving 15mph over the speed limit when stressing over their lives, possessing small amounts of weed, and doing other things that a counseling session and a handshake solves instead of a ticket or an arrest. That and I have thr tendency to use the S word a little too much. :)

Body cameras won't do anything to help. They only show what they are pointed at. And much like some other misguided fixes, will only make more problems. Like are "all" the recordings public? What if the officer comes to your house for a dispute, is the recording available for the public( to be put on youtube). Think about it, police respond to all kinds of calls. They see people at their worst and lowest. Is that car accident or suicide that a friend or family member was involved in going to be all over the internet? What about all the small departments that can't afford the logistics of a camera system. Do you have any idea how much hard drive space you would need to store all that video? Then you would need to hire someone or a team just to handle it even for a small department. How long do you keep the recordings. What about all the uninvolved people who are on the recordings. All these people screaming for body cameras will be the first to cry about their "privacy". They already cry about license plate readers and cell phone trackers. Then again if officer Wilson had a body camera, maybe we would have seen Michael Brown for what he was.

The problem is a lack of respect. No one respects anyone anymore. People now think they can and should be able to say or do anything they want. The vast majority of these police shootings would never have happened if the so called victim did what he was supposed to do. And yes it all goes back to the way kids are being raised these days (most not all). It starts with negotiating with a two year old instead of just making him do the right thing. I'm tired of hearing about children getting hit by cars because they weren't taught how to cross the street. When I was a kid, I was a handful and got in trouble at school often. My Father never took my side. Now parents are like defense attorneys. If my Father wasn't on me all the time. I might have ended up behind bars or dead. The police are like my Father was when I was a kid. They are there to keep us in line and safe. And like when you are having to be the strict parent, you are not well liked but when you protect your family, you are loved.
Thanks to all the sheepdogs out there and stay safe.

I agree. I am trying to raise a daughter to be responsible and what responsibility means. That often times you can not control what happens to you, but only how you react to it.

A little common sense goes a long ways. Glad to see that you are good at your job and using common sense. You probably reach more people than you will ever know.

I have a good friend that just got hired as a LEO. The top reason they chose him for the job was due to his combat experience. He did two tours in Iraq.

Notice I said combat experience, not just military experience.

It started with the movement against spanking your kids. Now it's grown into police not being allowed to do what is necessary to enforce the law. You can't even defend your own home against intruders anymore without fear of prosecution. It seems it's become a total free for all,"do whatever you want, no one can do anything about it" mentality. The utter disregard for the laws in this country is out of control, and strict law enforcement needs to be taken back very soon, or this country is finished...If it isn't already.

We are getting them soon as well. Actually already have them just waiting on the official training on them. I Do the same as you I cut a lot of people breaks. I do see cameras changing the way we do our jobs because we know that everyone will be watching. I'm not worried about the camera from my end as I feel like I treat everyone the same. However the public will see more citations issued and more trips to jail because we know everything is being recorded and everyone is watching.
By the way we will only turn ours on when interacting with the public. Not while just out on patrol.

Jacob1, thank you so very much for what you do!! Tough job, but there are people like me and my family who have nothing but the utmost respect for anyone in uniform!! I work in Brooklyn NY and the disrespect is just sickening. All my buddies on the job really dont know why they go to work anymore they arent allowed to do their jobs. The new mayor is a liberal 10 fold. He gives criminals all the respect that the cops deserve!! Be safe brother, best of luck to you this season!!

Very true. I see kids today that are real over achievers and really focused on doing great things.

It got me thinking about how they bash the wealthiest among us and like to analyze the Great Divide that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer like its the ambitious rich guys fault the lazy poor guy is broke. So to make it fair we tax the rich at a higher percentage, even though that one rich guy would already paying 1000x more in taxes at the same percentage.

It's the same with our kids though. We've got kids graduating collage by age 19 or starting a successful business while still in high schools, getting into pro sports at a younger and younger age. Sailing across the Atlantic alone at age 14. So many amazing things some kids are doing but then in the news you hear of 13 year olds killing people. Raping other children commit crimes that get tried as adults.

So what are they going to do with this Great Divide so these young over achievers dont make the other kids feel bad? Make them give up a percentage of their grade point average to the kids that don't study? Limit the amount of time their allowed to attend school? Ban them from any sport they are great at because if not fair to the kids that don't practice as much?

Self motivated kids that are taking advantage of all these great bopportunities this country has to offer will be the great adults that will continue to improve this world. The others will just exploit our kindness and be a drag on society and still some how try to make it look like it our fault.

Wow. That's the American black citizens I feel for. She stood up to talk reality into her neighborhood and they attacked her. How messed up is that? The problem with messing with people with nothing to lose is they can mess back harder because they've got nothing to lose.

Agreed but their not filming them to show what a great job they do. We don't see those videos. They just get erased.
We get the one officer that got a double load of A-holes he's had to deal with that day or has been sworn at or shot at a few to many times. These cops are humans from our own society with feelings and family's of their own. We act like their machines that are specially trained to take anything thrown at them and not be emotional.
I could never do their job.
That you guys for serving. I really mean that.

Ps. Pistol whip a few A-holes for me.

Before my post I would like to be upfront and let everyone know I am a police officer, and have indeed had weapons pointed at myself on several occasions and have not killed anyone.

If you want to judge all officers based upon the actions of a few, you are part of what is wrong with this nation. A few black, white, Hispanic, Asian or whatever are Thugs, but you don't want us judging them by there race, fair enough, I agree. these same folks are also the one's judging all these same races by there profession. Really.

As far as the Cameras go, my office has had cameras for a long time, better than 15 years. no they are not body cameras, but none the less the view what is in front of them and catch all audio. we just ordered body cameras, and we will have the same problems. now next time I get into a wrestling match with a crack head in the road ditch, you will see the first .10 sec. on the body cam, then you will see nothing but commotion and jumbled garbage. since this happened in the ditch you also wont see it on the car cam. Same litigation problem as the car cam. Crack head will say that he was high at the time and had no idea what he was doing, but the officers beat him even after he was in cuffs. no video evidence for him or the cop. good thing for the bad guy, a cops testimony is now use less without video evidence. also it wasn't that long ego depts. with body cams were getting sued for violating peoples privacy because they were being recorded in their own homes. make up you mind!!!

Lastly for the ones that think it is okay for people to fight or kill the cops, because you don't agree with them on the street. you are useless to society. there is a justice system for a reason. I don't get to take that Child Molester straight to jail forever with out finishing that small thing called the Court process. if you feel you were wrongly accused or mistreated, take care of it in court.

Blessed are the Peacekeepers for they are the son's of God.

The government is more or less a lost cause.. As far as BLM and blacks in general I would say what I really think but I would come off as a huge racist. I will say the color of their skin isnt what people hate about them. I get its not 100% of blacks.. but its well well over 50% and like it or not you will be judged by the majority.
