Well i have been promising my 9 year old that i would get him out in the woods as soon as the skeeters calmed down. We finally got a cool snap, so off we went to climb up a buddy stand that i had left out from last year. This is the same stand that i helped my oldest son sow his oats out of. As we approached i noticed something was not looking right. After getting to it i imadiatly seen why. A month or so we got a couple of massive wind storms. Well the whole top out of our tree had snapped off and fell on the stand  The pic dosent show it well but the top rail is bent up like a pretzle. The seat and seat uprights are bent down as well as the uprights that hold the top rail. Its a wonder it didnt rip it clean off the tree. I inspected it before we got in. It was huntable but a little more uncomfortable for now. It will come home soon so i can get the torch after it, heat it up re bend it and see if any of i needs re welded. On a good note, Tanner nudged me and said dad there is a deer. Ended up being a three point buck that came in at 16 yards. We ended up seeing three Toms as well. This is the last day of gun/bow season for turkeys and we will be on the ground where they came through yesterday going to there roost. He is gonna try for his first bird via gun. He cant pull the poundage yet for legal bow bird. here are some pics of the stand.

Wow, glad you guys weren't in it.

Last year a big oak fell over into a ravine near where I was hunting. It was a rather spectacular crash and then more crashing as it slid down the ravine. Neat, but also gave me the willies.

Also, the cottonwood that I had my ladder stand in got hit by lightning. You could see the trunk split and bits of wood and bark blown off in a line until it met the stand. I wonder if the stand made the tree more attractive to the lightning?

I'd say that's a stand well worth the money. Maybe you can write the company & tell your story. You never know, maybe they'll use it for an andvertisement & give you another. Good to see you starting out the younger one on our path of obsession.
