Hey Guys, just wondering when yal start putting out your trail cams? Years round, 2 months before season, etc... what's worked the best and what you've learned from this and so on. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
My thinking is you spend money on the cameras to not keep them at home on the countertop. I will pull them for a few months of the year, but aside from that they are out taking pictures.
Usually pull mine for little while during the sping, but other than that they're out year round. Usually whenever start finding sheds or little after since there's really nothing that interested to get pics of ha. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
I have mine out year-round. I put them on different things at different times of the year though. For instance, I just put out some water sets today. Blessings.........Pastorjim
Year round. I just landed a new property and will be putting cams out on it tomorrow. I find it's good for me to know the year round patterns of deer. They aren't always doing the same thing during hunting season as they are now, but I still learn how they are moving, what the does are doing, what the neighbors are doing, if there are trespassers, etc.
I run cameras year round. Sometimes I scale back and bring a few in, but I like having them out all year.
I run mine May to January. I hunt big woods public land that has seasonal deer migration due to extreme winter weather. So having them out after January does me no good and having the cameras in -30 temps isn't that great for them either. Every area is different. You can figure out what works best for you. I have friends that don't put them out till June or July and run them till February or March.
Deer don't winter on our property so unless I want pictures of coyotes and turkeys, I save batteries and bring them in form January through April.
Took mine down in late December and put a couple out in February when I started protein. I'll put some more out come May on remote trails to see what I have in the area not coming to the feeder sites.
Year round. I remember ten years ago I had to take my one camera down for winter as it didn't work in the cold. Like my one neighbor. He runs from like July till December. He has external battery setups too. I tell him just leave them cams out with them big battery packs and no reason they won't last till you come back when the snow's gone.
Year round. I have some 2012 Coverts that have never not been in the woods. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
