I've got some new ladder stands to put up, but when is a good month to put them up, July/Aug? Should you trim shooting lanes at the same time? I've got to put up 3 stands this yr on a little patch of private land I'm hunting.

Honestly, I hung a set two weeks after the season last year, but anytime is good. I will start to trim in the next few weeks, though. I have another set to hang, but the rest are done. PS I think I am OCD.

Never, I carry mine in and out each and every time I hunt. My equipment can't get stolen, weathered, chewed on by squirrels, and deer can't figure me out from over hunting a stand location, cause I am always on the move as a mobile hunter.

I have two hung that I did just two days ago. One ladder is also up, but needs moved. I have two more to go up in addition to the use of my climber. Usually end of June, beginning of July is when I get at it.

Same here but I will be carrying my climber in the woods to clear some lanes in the next few weeks.

I personally think the earlier the better. The more time you give those deer time to get use to your stand the more comfortable they are going to be around it.

I kinda thought now is about time. I normally use a climber, but this is private property, so I can put some stands up which is great time saver. I probably start next few weeks.

I have been checking out stand set locations, but have no stands up at this time. I normally check out a few locations and will hang the stands about mid to late August.

I will not trim out after the Spring Turkey season, I believe in leaving the area as mother nature created it.

Our two properties are small - so we leave ladder stands up all year as we know we'd put in same trees anyway. We loosen ratchets after season - I will tighten back up and trim lanes in Aug each year - occasionally moving a stand a little if terrain has changed due to storm damage, etc.

Our ladders and hang ons are up all year long and have been for many years. We'll take one full day in August sometime and go secure everything and do any trimming if needed. If I want to hunt a different location where we don't have a stand I'll take my climber.

My tripods at my lease stay out year round and I still have one lock on thats up at the land by my house. I plan on hanging a couple lock ons at my newly aquired land in Oklahoma in late Aug (seasons open around early Oct here)

All our lock ons stayed in the trees this year. Not necessarily by design, but that's just how it worked out. No point in taking them down now, our season starts in 6 weeks.

Maybe 10 acres or so. Basically it's a ravine w/a creek at the bottom. I hunt adjacent to the neighbors property, cuz there's a spot midway up where the deer cross to & from the neighbor's property. At the top on the North side is a grassy field that abuts an L-shaped farm land. I'll probably put a ladder up there somewhere. For sure I want want about 20-25 yds away from that fenceline. I've shot deer down there before, and was drawn on a small 8 last yr from that point. So with a ladder, that'll help me get up a little bit. Noiser than hell in there in the fall, all oaktrees; leaves everywhere. Have to get there early. The kicker is that w/a 16' ladder, that just about puts me even w/the top of the ravine.

Hank, I left a couple of hang ons out from last season because the spots have been good to me, I also left some of my sons ladders out for the same reason. Ill pull them after the upcomming season for maintenance checks. In my area, if i were to go out this time of year and hang stands the seed ticks would devour me
