I was referring to this statement: "so you are that accurate you can shoot a deer at 25 yards in the spine?" Absolutely! It's also my right to disagree with you. It's all give and take - your opinion / my opinion.
You did nothing wrong here. You took advise from someone who's supposed to know their stuff. In this case, the Instructor Is an Idiot for saying this If you ask me. None the less though, congratulation's on your kill!!
Brother, I've got to tell you that while you may not have intended to stir things up, posting on a hunting forum that you intentionally aimed for the spine can get you lit up like the 4th of July. In my opinion your instructor gave you bad info. I always aim for the vitals. I passed on two easy neck shot presentations at 20 yards or less this past weekend. There's so much that can go wrong with that shot. All they've got to do is flinch at the shot and it's a non-fatal wound or a very slow killing wound instead of a quick drop. Still, that was a great shot. Congratulations on your deer!
Many thanks to all you veteran bow hunters for pointing out the perils of intentionally aiming for the spine. I'm glad this worked out for me this time, but will not try it again in the future.
Congrats on your deer!!!! Your instructor was an idiot for telling you that but you listened and made a good shot. Next time aim right behind the shoulder for the lung/heart shot! I enjoy following bloodtrails LOL. Good luck to you the rest of the season!
