Just wondering when everyone fills their doe tag(s). Last year i waited all season until the last day b/c i was afraid it would ruin my hunt if i shot one any earlier but this year i am thinking about shooting a doe opening weekend just to get it done.

Whenever I have a tag, and one is in bow range.

Last week of the season usually, if at all. But this year I may have to make an exception just because things have been SO slow here so far.

I shoot my does whenever the opportunity presents itself. I've had enough times where I told myself that I would wait til later and then ended up eating tag soup in the end. I don't really think that shooting a doe early in the season effects your chances of success some other time unless you really disturb things when you get the doe out.

There will be certain situations during the rut, where I will let does walk. Also, I may let a doe walk depending on the stand I am hunting.

For a couple of reasons, I try to at least kill a doe as soon as the season starts.

    1. It gets the monkey off my back and I can wait for a buck
    2. It means I'm eligible to kill my 2nd buck (EAB)

Usually as soon as they come in range until my tags are filled. Sometimes saving a couple for later. But this year, I've actually passed on 2. The first I was actually waiting for a buck, the 2nd I just didnt feel like dealing with one and it was near dark and she was on edge and 25 yds away. But with a wide open perfect angle.

I usually wait till I get a buck ... limited number of does in my small hunting areas so if I shoot them then the bucks have no reason to stick around during rut.

As early in the season I can. Succesfully putting one deer on the ground before that buck you want steps out does wonders for a person's confidence.

I try not to shoot doe, unless I'm hunting an area that requires the harvesting of a doe in order to obtain a buck tag.

Shooting does is fun, and I enjoy it, but it's kind of like work, to me.

ASAP. I get three tags. I like to fill two as soon as I can and then save the third so that I can have some fun in the second season after xmas.

    X 2.

And a lot of time I won't shoot them the first week as well, in hopes of catching a buck still in his summer feeding patterns.

I really don't know because I can't even explain why I chose to pass or shoot. I've had about 15 shot opps on does this season. I haven't even drawn back. I suppose part of it is the lack desire to really want to clean and butcher in high temps...or perhaps I'm REALLY after a buck first.
