Again....this proves you DON'T "get it". Probably a legitimate reason for that. No one expects you to. Why would you?
Of course I dont' get it. I didn't play college baseball..... how could I possibly "get it". Have fun I have to go play 18 holes of a game I get. Oh crap! I didnt' play college golf either. I hope I can manage to get the ball off the tee.
Yes. Just like you are ignorant to the fact that all of these silly "unwritten rules" in baseball are nonsensical. But carry on believing that baseball is the holiest of all sports.
Nonsensical to who? Those who don't know the game.....and therefore don't need to understand it? Nothing lost, there.
Never said you didn't get it. Read my post to you. I said you "get it", but don't understand the concept for some reason. Then you spout off that if a 14 year old doesn't understand how to rake a bunker at your course he will get to understand quickly. Same damn thing, but you fail to see it. Quite comical. What we are trying to beat into your thick noggin is that kids playing baseball is very different from men playing baseball and that Arod still plays baseball by the boy code. Hooker, go start one of your beloved NBA threads or something.
I shot a 69. 30mph winds, felt like about 20 degrees out. I hit it in the bunker on 3 and properly raked it after I got out. I didnt' even go to college for that. I didnt' spout off about anything. I was simply replying to Babe Ruths statement. For the 16th time yes I do get it and I understand the concept. Hate to burst all your bubbles but the concept really isnt' that hard to understand. You don't have some inside information on the concept because you played college baseball. It isn't some magical secret. It's actually pretty common knowledge. How is disagreeing with the concept in anyway not "getting it"? I know the concept, I know why it happens, I know the secret hidden meaning behind the whole thing, I know it's place in the game, etc..... I simply don't agree with it. What's the complicated part to understand about this?
Babe Ruth.....lol. You kill me. If you disagree w/ someone.....sling a few names. That'll prove your point!
Of course not. Not when the shooting is going on. Oh I had a Colonel lay into me one time because my people weren't shaved. We'd been out about a month at the time. Total time for the trip was 42 days. A week was normal. I told him to go to hell. He ask my CO to relieve me because I was unruly, undisciplined and dangerous. My CO told him... I know...isn't it great. Creighton Abrams gave me a medal for the trip. LOL BUT, the polished belt buckles and all the training have a reason. When the crap hits the fan the training takes over. I tell people that a firefight was frightening, scary and total chaos.... yet through it all the training takes over. I always felt like I was acting out my part in a play or something. **** happened and you did what you were trained to do. See any shiny belt buckles on this dude. That's me escorting some brass around a battlelfield with body parts and crap laying everywhere. This happened 5 days or so after I told the Colonel to go piss up a rope about not shaving. One of my troopers sent me this a few months ago. Picture is from 1969. We're all getting together again in September in Indiana.
I've told you before, David. But, thanks for your service. My dad was a Navy man, and was coming off his service about that time. He did 7yrs......5 of those on a cruiser (stationed out of Key West) off Gitmo (incl. during the Cuban missile crisis).
Good for you. You seem to respect the game of golf and agree with the unwritten or written rules of the game. Glad you "get it". If you can respect the game of golf and see the reasons for the rules in that game then why not baseball? The only complicated part is that you understand these concepts in a game that you play regularly, but don't agree to them in another sport.
Oh I don't know... I think we're up to 17th time now. I see the reasons for the "rule". But I don't agree with it. I don't agree with every rule in golf either. There's rules in football, hockey, lacrosse that I don't agree with. I don't understand what the big deal is about not agreeing with a rule. I'll let you in on a little secret, baseball is not that sacred to stand alone. People can disagree with the rules of baseball. You guys make it sound like I don't like the game. It's probably my second favorite sport. I've played it all my life, coached it for as long as i can remember, kids all play it etc... I love the game of baseball. I simply don't think a pitcher should throw a ball intentionally at someone. Period. It's that simple. Before anyone responds for the 18th time I "get" why/ still don't agree. I think the game would survive just fine without the art of throwing it at someone.
What we're trying to point out is (and I won't bother to count the times)....you're speaking out of both sides of your mouth. If you :"get it", you respect the game. But, if you repesct the game......you don't make statements like this. I disagree wholeheartedly with a few USGA rules. I don't think the guys who made them are cowards; un-manly; girls or otherwise. You follow/accept them (written and unwritten) out of respect for the game. That's otherwise known as "getting it". There isn't one thing confrontational intended or implied, there. Take it at face value.
Clearly you know nothing about golf. How dare you disagree with a rule? The guys that wrote the rules of golf didn't have rules such as when down by a stroke hit your tee shot into your opponents back to send him a message. Little different. By the way what page in the rule book should I turn to about intentionally throwing at someone?
The unwritten rules of golf are referred to as proper etiquette. Let someone in your foursome step outside those and I'm betting you'd not only be aware.....but upset. Yet, in baseball.....you scoff at the notion. Clearly, common sense has no place in a discussion with you. You'd as soon call names.
I thought something would fall through with it when I got the update text in the 8th inning. Pretty impressive team to do it against too.
