For the longest time here in west TN the highs have been around 90 or higher with the lows around 60-70. A major front is passing through now and the highs are going to be in the 70's with the lows in the mid 30's. In your experience, how does the sudden change in temperature affect deer movement?
Hmm i dont really know would that mean that they would move more during the night because its colder thats a really good question
I've always noticed a good increase in all animal movement, not just deer, once a front is coming in and once it has passed...especially a cold front. The same thing is happening here tomorrow. Its been around 90 for the last several days and tomorrow the high is in the 70s and I will be in the tree!
sorry bout the smart @ss statement ^ but cold front moving in tonight and hopefully get them on their feet
An increse in movement always take advantage of those temp drops! We had the lows in the 30-40's last week, ther Deer were moving good, but it seemed late morning was the best around 9:30- 11:00 ish
Not a problem at all. In fact, you're right. Well, I'll skip the cocoa, but my extra layers are ready to go. I believe that an increase in movement is the general consensus, and I am taking advantage of it. I wish I were there now, but I'm taking the next two days off and heading to my new lease in Perry County here in TN. I've left it alone waiting for the right conditions.
I'm hoping they move a bit more. We are getting snow out here today after having some nice weather for the last few weeks. I'm heading out tomorrow morning to stalk some mule deer. Hopefully we get some better luck and can extend our morning hunt. It's 32 deg F right now and a high of 46-50 for the weekend.
