Glove or tab? Three fingers under or one over two under? Off he shelf or rest? I'm a glove shooter and I shoot one over two under. I tried three under but didn't care for it. Also tried off the shelf but found a rest works much better for me.
I am new to the trad game as of about 2-3 months ago. I am shooting three under, off the shelf, with a tab.
3 under, and depends on the bow. Some bows are off the knuckle, some shelf. Trying to move to split finger. Just makes a bow more quiet and tad easier to tune. I have tried all kinds of gloves and tabs, and came back to the damascus. I like the feel. some like no feeling like the superglove.
With my Bear Kodiak 45# recurve, I shoot fingers as it has the no tab/glove fingers protector on the bowstring. But with my new longbow purchase I will probably be using a glove that allows for a softer feel of the bowstring. I can't help it, I just don't like that hard barrier between myself and the bowstring. I will say that after shooting long strings, the glove is a great way to go as your fingers really start to burn.
I just recently was experimenting with 3-under but split-finger just feels better for me. I shoot off the shelf but have shot off a rest at times.
Split-finger with a tab off the shelf. I shoot my brother's bows and he uses an elevated rest and it doesn't make a differance to me....shooting 3 under does though. It feels very foreign to me. I don't cant the bow much(only a slight cant with the longbows). I shoot with a set arm and draw back to my anchor. Works for me
Tab, split, shelf. Although I did shoot one of my bows off a flipper rest with no issues. And I tried a glove & 3 under for well over a year but never could get used to it.
