I am trying to hold to a 120" minimum going forward, with a few exceptions of course. I still have a lot of learning to do in bow hunting, and so much work to do to make my land better. Will be a while until I can say I think I really will hit my minimum. But, I can say I have plenty 120" bucks every year around, and know that with enough time in the woods and utilizing what I have learned, I can get on one and get the job done. Also need to start shooting doe, to help gain more confidence behind the bow.

I would like to take my first buck and 1 or 2 does. I would also like to get a shot at a few of the coyotes I have been getting on camera.

I have the standard on the wall. I'm trying to reduce the does on the property a bit. I'm hoping that my trip to the mountains will yield me a decent size buck, but I'm not counting on it.

Kill some does and let my wife shoot her first deer. Hopefully her first buck. I do have a few spots with some big deer and hopr to hunt them this year but we'll see what happens.

1st and foremost just enjoy the woods... 1 bear, 3 does, and a decent buck if I am lucky enough this year.

Just hoping to get out this year. Had a mishap July 4th and an ultrasound yesterday showed a partial tear of the rotator cuff(supraspinatus).

I've already bought a crossbow, just not sure how difficult getting a permit is. I'll be able to get out after 2nd shotgun season here in IL either way, but the rut will be winding down by then and heavy pressure put on them.

I don't think shooting my bow will be possible at all this season.

If I am willing to spring for the nonresident license I can hunt my new state of MT. I may just try to get a doe tag if I can't take not hunting. I have never Been a trophy hunter anyway.

Looking forward to just getting out there and breathing in the crisp fall air! as well as filling all my tags and hopefully seeing my buddy (whom I got into bowhunting last year) shoot his first deer!

Well I guess I'm really putting the pressure on myself this season. If I get a buck I'm going to do a little contest. Whoever gets closest to the gross score wins something. So far the best thing I've found that won't cost a whole lot is a hawk bow hanger. I might even pick one up for myself even though I have a hanger for all of my stands.

Another 40 acres of beans being planted smack dab in the middle of most of my timber stands puts me in a lot of good spots this year to intercept a booner as he makes his way to the fields to feed. I have pics of a bachelor group with 2 of them approaching 140-150 inches. My neighbor said the 180+ inch MONSTER 13 point from last year survived which is amazing news. With the new crops, two stands to put in choice spots, half dozen other stands, and the known presence of booners....I'm feeling good about this year.....very good

Just get to enjoy it all.
We moved last year right in the middle of the season so it was tough not to be able to hunt.................

Take a decent 8 Pt in NJ during the last week of October or the first week of November. Take 3-4 doe between NJ and my home state of Vermont in September and October. Two of my children, age 10 and 7, just passed their hunter ed course today. So, getting them in the woods over the Nov VT youth weekend and in a ground blind with a cross bow in the Sept NJ early bow season are priorities this year! IMG_2075[1].jpg IMG_2078[1].jpg

Finally convinced club members to be selective and we have some decent 3 1/3 year old bucks running around. Early season patterns have them hitting a corn field, so things could be interesting at the start of the season. HUNT0186.jpg HUNT0225.jpg
