My goal for the year is to come out of Kansas with the buck I seen the following year that was pushing 145, I'm hoping he grew a few inches but I'm sure Kansas wont let me down either way. Now as far as behind the house if I kill a 90inch buck he's a monster haha just looking to relax mainly and send time in the woods.
Our closing was delayed on our new farm so this will be the "Surprise Season"! We will gladly take whatever God gives us for the freezer...
I say 130"-140" buck but probably a doe. I decided on just shooting the first mature deer that gives a good shot.
I will kill about 8-10 does with a bow. And won't shoot a buck unless he breaks 130", so chances of taking a buck aren't great.
I want to fill the freezer with slick heads. Then put a nice rack on the wall. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
Realistically where I hunt this season I will take 1-2 does between OH and PA, and hopefully at least one buck in the 100-125" range between PA and OH. The public ground I hunt in PA doesn't hold many P&Y bucks, so when I do get the urge to take a buck it is usually in the 100" range. In OH I hold out for 125 or bigger. I am fine with that.
My goal: To end a 3 year chase with a buck I call Turkey Foot. Realistic Hopes: Just to kill a mature buck and put down a mule deer in Wyoming(Rifle).
My goal is to at least put a doe down opening couple weeks of the season because me and my wifes expecting our first child end of october so i wanna make sure i at least have something down that way i can spend more time with my new daughter. And not really picky on bucks i have a smaller 5 point and a 140 inch 12 point and thats it but id like to hold out for a 110"+ but really ill take whatever makes me happy becuase i cant be to picky this year.
Goals and predictions (outlook) is two totally different things. Sounds like most are posting goals. Mine: One doe killed and then pass up small bucks hoping for a bigger one but I never get one in range so I eat my buck tag.
safe and enjoyable relaxing time in the woods is of utmost importance... I did have my best bow season ever last year. I doubt that I will have that type of season again with the quality of animals seen and harvested... My usual goal is to fill a couple of tags with the bow in the 3 states I hunt (CT, NY, & MA). Depending upon what my cameras reveal in my areas as season approaches will determine if there are any particular deer I may target..
I missed some of the pre-rut and a few early rut days being by my grandpa's side in the hospital last year. So my hope, not so much a prediction, is that I put a buck down on the date marking the 1 year anniversary of his passing. He's the reason I got into fishing/hunting/outdoors and I want to honor/dedicate his life and the impression he made on me by taking a buck. It's been 3 years since I've taken a buck and everything just seems right about this year.
I see my myself having a good year for slaying doe but, my buck streak may come to an end. After shooting my Buck in '15 I am going to hold out for at least twenty inches more.
(1) Buck (what the hell lets say 130") (1) Doe (10) Squirrels (15) Rabbits (4) Pheasants (15) Geese (10) Ducks (10) Doves
