I just shot this buck with my bow last week. Its my biggest buck ever yet I think its gonna be a little shy of Pope and Young. The taxidermist thinks it will make it. It will be 4 months before I can get it scored. Any guesses on what it might score?

I bet he hits 127 gross, and ends up with about 6 to 6.5" in deductions. I don't think he's going to make it to be honest, but I really hope for you that he does.

What state did you shoot this buck in? He's really a great deer, I'd shoot him in a heartbeat.

That's a close one. Why 4 months? I always take the rack while I am waiting for the cape to be tanned. Get it scored then bring the rack back. Even a green score by a official measurer will let you know if it should make it. You wn't get that much shrinkage. Good luck I hope you make it. Congrats on a great deer!

My estimation has that buck grossing around 131 and netting about 125.

So...it is going to be close.

The taxidermist should be able to give you the rack to go get scored and then you can bring it back to them when they need it.

    Good luck.

Reno just call him and tell him you are having it officially green scored. He just has the rack hanging in the shop until he gets the hide back from the tannery. Go here and find the closest scorer to you and give thema call. They are volunteers so set up a time convienient for them and where to meet. There is no charge.

    Good luck my friend.

    Well the verdict is in...

The green gross was 136 7\8
The green score was 128 4\8

Hopefully it will not lose 3.5 inches after drying.
