I'm no master hunter, so my one thing I'm proud of is I don't give up. Anything can happen in the woods, at any time. If its cold, wear wool and have hand warmers. If its raining, I'd like to be in the stand right when it stops. The more snow, the more I wanna be in a certain spot. The weather isn't gonna stop me, only the season dates. Ice storms where they close down all the roads is a different story:d
I remember going out on Dec 31st one year after an ice storm. We actually turned the car around by grabbing it and spinning it. On the way to the woods we took turns hanging onto the bumper and skiing along behind the car. I killed a deer that day!:d
Self control I get excited when something I want to shoot steps out, but I can quickly calm myself down to make the shot
I would say persistance. I can go a few years without shooting a buck for my wall and I don't get discouraged. I just keep hunting and try to get better.
I would say ability to make the shot......but I missed a chip shot at a big one last year LOL. My best quality....getting permission to hunt where the deer are.
That's an understatement for you. My best quality is having this guy for a friend. He tells me everything I need to know and helps my passion for the outdoors grow every day. Thanks buddy!
I think it depends on what I'm huning and even where. But confidence in myself to be in the right place at the right time, and get the job done.
I would say my Desire! It drives me! Sure the desire to kill a nice buck, but also the desire to be "out there". Watching the fox chase chipmunks or the Pheasant, bob along the fence-line, watching the doe as they react to different situations and each other. It's all worth it, and missing a chance to see it and be there...well there's only a few things in that point of time more precious and that's about all that will keep me from the woods.
I'm an optimist, I don't get discouraged easily. I hunt from opening day till the last day of the season always thinking the next one is the best day to be in the woods. And I plan for the season year round.
To be honest, it has always been looking at the woods from afar, then looking upon the landscape of the woods from within the canopy of the trees.....then picking a tree to kill a deer. I am constantly getting pushed around from place to place where I hunt so I have to be able to adapt quickly on my feet to get close to deer.
