For me other than my safety harness and other obvious stuff... I don't go without my Therma-cell and an extra flashlight. I hunt in Alabama so we often have mosquitos even in December-January and if you ever had a blown flashlight bulb you know the problem with changing it in the dark.

Replacement Therma-cell cartridges are awesome Christmas presents.

I carry the Outdoor Edge Butcher Lite kit in my pack, It's fairly compact and has everything I need in it.

Aside from that, I will not leave home without my harness, it saved my life once and I hope I"ll never need it again, but won't take the chance. My filming gear, grunt tube, bow holder, and a bottle of water come with me on every hunt as well.

Oh, and an extra arrow for the neighbor's dog.

Besides the obvious, like bow, arrows, safety harness, and stand. My number one item I can't go without this time of the year, when temps are usually around freezing, is my hand muff.

My hand muff is like my lifeline when its cold. I only where a thin pair of gloves year round and having the muff is the only way I can sit in cold tempertures. I hate bulky gloves when shooting my bow, thats why I only where thin gloves. I can sit with my hands in my muff all day and then when that moment of truth comes I simply just pull them out and they are toasty warm. It makes shooting a bow really easy when your hands have all the feelings in them, especially when its december.

Bino's are number one for me. They're crucial for how and where I hunt. Aside from that, probably my clothing. I've spent A LOT of money on good quality clothing and it pays off big time through out the season. If you're not comfortable in the woods and can't stay in stand, you can't kill deer.

Grunt tube, plain and simple. I can do without binos, rangefinder, almost everything... except a grunt tube. I've called in more bucks to within shooting range with a grunt tube than I can count.

I'd almost turn around and go home if i forgot it.

rangefinder, buck knife, flashlight, deer rope and dressing gloves 99% of the time (thermacell for early season also)....during rut, i throw in a bleat can/rattling sticks/grunt tube/scents.....i like to keep everything light if i'm using my climber......but if i have a stand that's already on the tree, i carry my whole arsenal pending what area i'm in....

My Primos bow sling! If I'm not in my stand or practicing, that sling is Always on. I cut the strap off and just use it to protect my string/cables, and cams, which look brand new.

A close second are my Manzella glove/mittens.

I have a big plastic box that I keep all my hunting equipment in along with my pack. Depending on where I am going I look at what is in the box and take what I need. If it is stuff I know I will not use that day it doesn't go in the pack. I can't see carrying something I know I will not use and take a chance it will get left in the woods. One thing, however, that always goes in the pack no mater where I am going or what type of stand I am using is a roll of tolet paper. Don't know if anyone has mentioned this one yet. It also comes in handy to mark the way if you are working out a blood trail at night. White shows up real well.

I did this very thing today. Turned around and drove the mile back home to get my grunt tube. I used It tonight too on a shooter buck but he didn't want to have any of It. The thing Is If I wouldn't of went back and got my call I would've been kicking myself all night tonight at home saying If you would've had your call you could possibly be tracking a nice buck right now!! lol!

I guess bino's aren't my number one thing either, milkweed takes that one. Best wind checker out there and It's cheap. :)

I said Binoculars but I also put my HSS Lifeline's right at the top. I have them on all four of my hang-on stands.

Another thing I don't like to hunt without are my HS scent wafers in fresh earth. I don't know if they actually help, but I sure do like the smell of them :tu:

Like many have mentioned a nice pair of bino's is crucial to me... When I see a deer heading my way I really want to give him a look over to verify if he's a shooter or not... A nice LED headlamp, range finder, and a couple of different grunt tubes are at the top of my list too...

    Quick Binocs story:

Thanks to binocs I caught sight of the only trespasser I've ever had to confront face to face. I was setting in the stand and kept seeing this movement through some tree tops and brush up on a hillside. Low and behold once I finally dug my binocs out of my bag and found the spot it was another hunter...I watched him as he would scan the area and then sit for a little while and then scan again.....to top things off I could see the glare of the ends....just be careful I guess is all I'm saying. I have them along but I'm a huge fan of the "no movement is still too much movement" and use them very sparingly.

Me binos. Also, a watch. I started wearing a watch this year to tell time. Duh, right? I used to just rely on my cell phone. But this year I started wearing a watch to minimize my movement when checking time. I am a clock watcher and always have to know what time it is. It's so much easier and requires far less movement to flip up your shirt and check your watch than it does digging around for your cell phone. I also found that when checking time on my phone, that made me more likely to text or play a game or do something else distracting.
