I plan on hunting this year like I did last year, sit out early season all together. I will not hunt till Halloween or so. Last year I took 2 deer while spending a total of 4.5 hours sitting on stand

    1. Tie myself to the tree using double retention so the mosquito's don't fly off with me and my gear.

    2. invest in an ice vest and leggings and spray paint them camo and wear only those in the tree.

    3. I'm addicted so I will be Hunting A LOT.

    4. Maybe try some of this vooodooo about smoking your clothes to help with mosquito's, I had one swallow my thermacell whole last year.

pretty much dead on with me!!!

i would also add, that i am only hunting one spot the outskirts of my 40 acres, which is 30 yards inside the woodline. this is to limit the amount of pressure, and hoping that all my habitat improvement over last winter holds the does on my property, which it already is.

Fish and shoot doves until October.

If I do hunt in September it will be late evening only.

I hunt water sources primarily early season. It's so hot, I don't see much of anything on fields early season. Water sources and acorns are my key.

    1. What's your plan?
Play the wind! Not going to hunt a stand with an unfavorable wind. Find an oak tree dropping with deer crap under it; put a stand there.

    2. Is it different than previous seasons? Why or why not?
I've been guilty of hunting a stand I like over hunting a stand that makes sense with the wind direction

    3. Do you hit it hard right out of the gates, or do you take it easy and safe yourself for the pre-rut/rut?
Balls to the wall from the beginning. Our rut isn't until late December / early January

    1. My plan is to get my son and nephew on deer early(youth day) and then hopefully take my daughter on a few evening bowhunts
so she can see some deer and I hope take a doe or two with her bowhunting with me. Have a couple of buddies that want to get
into bowhunting so I'm planning on getting them out as well.

    2. Yes it's different than years past I'm more interested in getting other people introduced to hunting than I am about me doing a
bunch of killing early on. Hunting camp, fun, & comradery are high on the priority list this season.

    3. Urban archery here is Sept 6th, I probably won't go much. Youth/Apprentice Hunter Day is Sept 27th so we'll start hunting fairly
regular then through Halloween. After that we will kick it up a gear and hunt a bunch from around Oct. 24 through Thanksgiving.

    1. What's your plan?

Hunt the hasta and the garden, at 2 locations both private land, suburban properties. One to thin the doe's, the other for the 8 point that's been pokin around. I'll save that one for later in the season.

    2. Is it different than previous seasons? Why or why not?

Yes because I've been hunting mostly public land in the past, and now have 2 places where I'm the only one hunting the property

    3. Do you hit it hard right out of the gates, or do you take it easy and safe yourself for the pre-rut/rut?

Bow season starts Sep 15th, Go in early because the doe's don't care what time of day it is, they're out pretty much all day, and don't care who or whats around. You could be lounging in the pool and they're munchin on the hasta 20 feet away. Even caught one looking in the livingroom window at 3 feet watching the cat and the GF's daughter snapping a pick with her IPhone. Can you say, meat for the freezer. The property with the 8 point, they tend to be abit more skitkish, So I'll be waiting for late October, November, to keep them from getting wise. I hve 4 tags to fill so...
