So i'm new to hunting these central areas i've been hunting the south all my life and i'm looking to start hunting more out of state mainly to take my family with me to see other places and hunt with me. Been looking at lots of lands and leases. Just wondering where is the place you love to hunt the most?

Go to Kansas, it is somewhat "easy" to find spots to hunt there or antleased easier then Iowa or Missouri from what I know. and also the tags are cheaper then those states I believe.

I live and hunt in Illinois all of the time, but I would love to chase Whitetails around Kansas for a while sometime.

A friend invited me and my wife to texas next year but i think we will surely do missouri the following year. We are going to branson for our 2 year anniversary to bass pro lodge so while i'm there i'm going to scope out some areas

Missouri is my favorite. It is much cheaper than Iowa and Kansas. There is a lot of public land to hunt that is bow only.

I only loveto hunt IL because it is the only place I've lived. Would love to hunt KS as they have a more open style of hunting in a lot of places, would be a new approach to hunting whitetails.

I think you should have taken MO off the options and put WI there. MO has some good deer, but WI is just as good as IA/IL/OH.

My dream hunt would probably be Canada, would love to hunt those frigid temps and big bucks from a tree.

For an out of state hunt, I would avoid IL for "family hunting" cost will be way too expensive.

Edit: cost effective only, MO might still be a good idea, not sure of WI cost. Maybe take IL off the list in a price only comparison

I'm with you on canada those big dark horn deer are awesome!!! And yea i have to buy 2 hunting licenses so i guess IL might not be best just looked up there prices. Never hear much on WI but i Imagine any northern state with good ag is as good as the next.

I didn't read your post thoroughly at first.

I thought you were talking trophy whitetail hunt and taking the family along, not taking a few for the hunt. I don't know pricing on other states non-resident tags. I do know IL is not non-resident friendly in any aspect of their attractions. Chicago rapes us residents every way possible, they rape non-residents worse.(this isn't just related to hunting on the raping scenarios)

No i cant afford to spend the money on a trophy paid hunt somewhere....Looking to just lease land somewhere for me and my wife to bow hunt a few weeks out the year. We hope to kill a trophy in the process no doubt but just hunting these different places is enough for us. This is how we want to vacation yearly as the kids get older we will take them also.
