I just got this buck on camera and he appears to have something wrong with his eye. Have any of you guys ever seen this or know what this?

No way to tell from that angle. Could be a lot of things. He could have had an impacted eye from fighting way back last fall or he could have run a stick in it a few days ago or someone may have shot him with a .22. Looks pretty nasty though.

Ohhh. Pink eye. No idea actually. Maybe got it poked out last year and it got infected.

Oh, well that's not as bad as it looked in the first pic, that's just Cutaneous fibromas or deer warts. They aren't normally a big concern and are localized to the skin so they don't hurt the meat. He'll probably be fine.

maybe flies are getting the best of him. I've seen them swell up and get some pretty nasty welts before. but hard to tell.

If its not what TC or Covey said, I would think maybe a cut from fighting last fall that got infectes and turned into nasty scar tissue

Are you sure? Looks like he has a small one on other eye as well. Guess both could be fight wounds but seems like something else to me. Idk

My guess would be that he is having some kind of reactions from tick and fly bites.

You can look up deer warts, there's no doubt about what that is based on the second pic. Yes the small one on the left eye proves it's warts and not a localized wound.

there must be a hunter from Ohio in your area. Those people sure do love their buck eyes.

I agree, sometimes ticks can lodge themselves into a little colony and cause swelling...
