Read around the Internet a bit are figured out what the on/prime/res is about. I guess the prime is for starting it and the on is vacuum fed fuel. That's what I read but it seems to run better when I have it set on instead of prime. I guess it was either getting to much fuel or not enough, I really don't know. It's still doing the same thing but subtly instead of giving me the feeling it's going to die on side of the road.

Has it set for awhile? Did you drain and replace the fuel?

4 strokes only require 3 things. Air, fuel and spark.

You've eliminated the air in a sense with the filter cleaning, if you've replaced the fuel you've narrowed that down to either delivery or mixture.

Next logical step would be to change the spark plug and inspect the plug wire. Make sure the plug wire hasn't worn from a vibration/rub that when at higher speeds/rpm would cause a misfire from shorting to the frame. Don't rely on visual of the spark plug, cheap to replace just get a new one. Cracked ceramic or burned up elctrode(sounds like high speed is common with your riding) can have similar results.

If both of those pass and fail to remedy it's time to find someone a bit more experienced and take the carb off. Clean the needle valves and jets, inspect all o-rings and gaskets.

If still not right after that it's time to go deeper and open the wallet a bit. Start with compression test, if it verifies move on to the ignition system and wiring.

The fix is relatively easy, troubleshooting is the time and money usually.

Just wondering what this screw is. It's number 28 and all it says for the name is screw, stop. I have no idea what it is or what it does but would like to know if anyone has any idea.

Thats a mixture screw. It richens or leans the motor out. Dont mess with that if you haven't already.

Just to confirm, this only happens in 5th gear and at full throttle? Does not happen in any other gear at any throttle position?

If it comes down to pulling the carb, I wouldn't bother paying someone. Those carbs are super easy to disassemble and clean up.

I agree, jad a Suzuki Vinson a few years back and had low speed issues due to it sitting ao long. Took it apart and cleaned it all out. Pretty much the same as the Eiger. Only reason i recommended help was due to this.

But if mechanically inclined its a relatively simple task. Pretty much just dropping the bowl and cleaning all the needles and jets amd spray everything down with carb cleaner.

If it's a mixture screw then what is 18? Last time I had it leaned out a bit they used the number 18 screw.

It could just be a throttle stop to regulate the travel of the throttle. If you are not mechanically inclined, I'd just take it to a shop if changing the spark plug doesn't fix it. My guess still is it's the plug.

This is where the number 28 screw goes. It's on the right side. I'm guessing you're right covey.

Here's the plug. Looks like carbon so along with filter oil I will be getting a spark plug.

Just adjust the fuel mixture a bit, change the plug and get filter oil. This old beast should be smoking my friends 2013 arctic cat 400 in no time. When running good I can pass him like he's standing still.

Pretty sure 28 is the idle adjustment. Had the same thing on my vinson.

Here's what the jet and needle valve layout looks like.

Don't have a lot of time, but googling eiger carburetor and different variations will yield better results

Its probably the main jet clogged. .. unscrew them and spray it carb and choke cleaner then use compressed air to blow the jets out and any ports on the carb... did this with mine and she runs great now...!
Look at the manual for adjustments on the pilot screw if u take it out... this is ur fual to air ratio adjustments. dont just adjust anything to make this problem go away as u will just creates more problems...

Took the carb off and sent it to a guy to clean everything. Should be good by the end of the day.
