deer hunting all thru the growing season for farmers and anyone else they want ...

Farmers Can Now Hunt Throughout Growing Season

Farmers in Michigan can now shoot deer throughout the growing season to protect their crops and choose anyone they want to join them in hunts.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan Natural Resources Commission have teamed up to loosen the state’s crop protection restrictions because of growing widespread complaints about yield losses from an exploding deer population.

According to the MDNR’s Wildlife Division, crop protection permits to kill female deer are now valid during the entire growing season instead of just one or two week intervals.

IMO, I don't think this will hurt the deer population. I don't see many farmers going out to shoot deer .

Why, just why can't these reporters actually report correctly anymore? Tell me where in that article did they report on the actual process involved in this ruling?
I say this because here in NYS this has been the case for many, many, many years. Here is NYS's process. Farmers put in a"claim" then the DEC makes an assessment and issues" permits based on said issues. The farmers can then distrubute said permits to hunters they choose. There is a time they can hunt ,which at some point was up to 11 pm as I recall. Not sure if that is still in affect. Even with this going on, I live smack dab in the middle of farm country, the DEC has added an early doe only hunt in Sept. in our sector. I can still get up to 4 of my own doe tags and have 2 signed over from other hunters. THOSE are the tags effecting our deer #'s. Because we have "hunters" here that think they have to fill every single tag with zero understanding of whats actually happening on the lands they hunt.
Is this the situation in the above article?

most states allow and issue 'depredation permits' to farmers .. regs will vary by state of course ... I understand the reasons why, but that dosnt mean I have to like 'em per se.... here, we have 'deer reduction zones'/urban zones which allow more antlerless to be taken with in those zones with the correct license also the season runs an extra 30 days within those zones(only one buck with the reduction zone permit too) ... 'depredation permits' generally are for those with crop damage and I believe the property must be inspected before issue (?) ... I and another guy had the chance years back to help an orchard and took several deer with bows and those types of depredation permits permits, it may have even before the state started the 'urban zones' ..

If you do not farm you don't get it. Turkeys do huge damage to corn fields, they pluck the plant out when they emerge grazing, same thing with deer. Don't complain about farmers with your mouth full of food.
