Any ideas what's going on with this doe? I took down my cameras today and was scrolling through the last batch of images and came across this doe. It definitely looks strange.

Coyotes have never really been an issue where I live, especially on older does. It's been an extremely warm winter with no snow around here, so even if coyotes were a problem I don't think they'd be after full grown deer. Maybe she slipped into the creek!

If you can zoom in on it almost looks like ice. Looks like she was lying on her right side, but I've only seen one deer sprawl out like a dog laying it's head on the ground in my entire life, but that still doesn't explain the ice. I have several other shots of her and she is in great shape, no blood or injuries. I've just never seen anything like this before and would love to hear some opinions!

Hmmm, that is interesting. I guess if the temp on the photo stamp is correct it could be ice. Maybe she was spooked while taking a drink.

Looks like she passed out in a pile of her own vomit, I mean, we've all been there :tu:

I dunno, could have gotten wet, busted through some frozen water nearby before bedding?

Deer can get something similar to mange. Might be that or a parasite that has been scratched.

The temperature on the time stamp is correct. I found a couple more pictures of her about a half hour later. No more ice.

Scratching would be a logical explanation, but where would the ice come from?

That is a strange one, the only thing I could come up with is maybe she was laying in a wet area and with those temps she had the ice form after getting up but later knocked it off by scratching.
