Comfortably? 40 yards. But I have killed a doe at 86. One time thing. I had practiced religiously at 80 and yes I know there was luck involved. But it worked out. And like I said comfortably 40 is where I'd like to draw the line
During a zombie apocalypse when the Walmart shelves have been emptied I would try anything within 100 yards or so, but currently I would like to keep it less than 40 yards.
30 yards but I won't get a shot past 20 yards in most cases because I only have one spot that would go out to 35-40 yards
As of now I feel comfortable out to 50 yards on a relaxed deer standing perfectly broadside in a clover field with little wind and zero possibility for an unseen twig to get in the way. I only have one stand where this is possible. But for the most of my stands in the woods I wouldn't shoot past 40 but I set up for a 25-yard shot in most cases. Like many said before...there are lots of variables.
40ish for me depending on the situation. I have killed 2 deer that were 40 and 42 yards and neither made it more than 75 yards. I aimed right at the heart with my 40 yard pin and both ducked for a perfect double lung shot. (One kill was on video)
40 yards but I practice at 50 and 60 religiously just in case I need to make a second shot and know that I'll at least be able to put another arrow in the animal. Sent from my arrow using Mathews
On a calm unaware deer I wouldn't hesitate on a 55 yard shot but if I was in the timber or the conditions weren't absolutely perfect I wouldn't push it past 40. This year i have pushed my self as an archer in conditioning and my accuracy skills and going into this season I am more confident in my skills then any other year in the past.
25 unless it was a hog then I would try 35. I see most all the replies on here are logical but what about the crossgun guys? I bet the crossgun guys will reply about 50-80yds. at least that is what they brag about in my area. wish PA wouldn't have started that mess! jmo
I have harvested a few deer at 40 yards but I practice at 60 yards daily. I only take shots past 30 if I'm hunting over a field or very open woods and little to no wind.
50 on an unaware deer in an open field. Considering I practice at well past double that, I would have no problem taking the shot
40 is the max I will shoot in the field so that's what I practice out to. I practice at 20, 30, and 40 yards.
