Typical is spikes and basket 6 & 8 points. Best is probably 115-130, every year I see one in that range that usually gets killed in rifle season.
The biggest I've ever seen in person (and I'm horrible at size estimations) was probably 125. This was in the mid 90s when I was in high school and rifle hunting, but I never could get a shot at him. The average age of the bucks harvested in this area is probably only 2.5 years old. There are several large "hunting" clubs in the area that cull the bucks before they get a chance to grow. Just to clarify, when I say "hunting" I mean: meet at dawn; start with a two drink minimum; go to the "stand" (stump or truck tailgate); let the drivers turn the dogs loose; wait for a frightened deer run by too close to your location; blast away with a shotgun; drink another beer; recover any dead animals (if they can be found); meet back at the club; and finally go out to find the dogs that have been roaming for hours and are usually miles away from where they started. But back to the original point. I have one on the wall that scored between 107/108 and the record for the county (Calhoun) is 172. They are out there, but they stay in deep cover near the river in the swamp. On the upside, no one has hunted the property I'm on for about 6 years and the neighbors are good about QDM. It's also only 2.5 miles "as the crow flies" to the property where the record breaker was taken!
Yeah. Did you go to the garden state outdoor sportsman's show? The had all the outstanding deer from the year before. There were three bucks from down the road less than a mile that were 140-160 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Typical deer on my "will shoot" category are 120-150 range My other spot probably 110-130 Both spots though almost always have the potential for something 160+ especially the first spot!
