So I’ve been pondering where to sit for this Thursday s hunt. The rut is starting to kick in, and I have 3 stands to choose from. Here are the descriptions and you just let me know what you all think.
    1. Buck Stand – last year this is where we were getting a lot of buck activity/sightings. This year we haven’t had a ton of activity here; however, there are a couple of rubs. I have visited this spot in about 3 weeks, so who knows what I’ll find. I swing by in the AM to see what’s on the camera, and then move on with determining the best stand.
    2. Hill Stand – I sat up here on Opening day and observed multiple deer sightings well within the range of my comfort zone. One of the deer was a nice 135 to 140 buck that I never got a shot of. This stand sits south of a well known bedding area of 1 to 2 inch trees on about 3 acres. The does are here.
    3. Black Ops stand – I named it this because I had to use black ops methods to enter this area. Big Bucks are bedding in here and it is very difficult to enter due to the thickness. I set my stand west of some rubs and had 2 shooter buck bed down in front of me on my 1st sit. I didn’t see them my 2nd and last sit. This area has been getting hammered by bucks in the last week. Fresh Scrapes and Rubs all over the area.
My main objective is to kill one particular buck that I had in front of my Black Ops stand. Would I likely see him still there this week? I hunted it last Wednesday and only had a single doe in the evening, but the scrapes around looked to only be a couple of days old. Should try this stand or should I move my focus on the stands where the does are hanging out at? I know the answer next week would be to focus on the does, but this week isn’t next??? Sorry I confused myself too.
I am considering using 2 drags on my way to the black ops stand if I choose to sit here. One drag will be of Doe n heat urine and the other of Dominant buck. In order to get to the Black Ops stand I will have to travel through the whole 60 acres of timber. I enter the woods on the west middle and walk straight east then the stand is about 100 yards on the south east corner. Drag’s should work perfect for this stand, plus it’s a WNW wind so the trail I will be taking would also be perfect for drag’s since it travel straight south to my stand with the deer trails west of me.

What stand would you hunt, Hill Stand or Black Ops Stand?

Here in Franklin county KY anywhere in the woods is a good place to be rite now, the bucks are on the move in the light. you know your place better than any of us and it looks like you are favoring you black ops stand.
    Sit there!!

Crap! I just realized that with a WNW wind my scent will be blowing into the bedding area of the Bucks at the Black Ops stand. I am still considering it since it's rut and they may just enter by my stand???

I know right! I may just install a rip cord and travel between stands in the air during the day time to check on movement.

Hunt one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. In accordance to the wind of course. The change of scenery will keep you interested longer.

Yeah, I’ve sat all day twice now. Not a big deal! It’s just choosing the correct stand to sit in. I'd know where to sit next week, but this week is still possibly early for the extreme chasing to begin. But with the wind blowing directly into the bedding area on my Black Ops stand I should possible forget about attempting that sit. It’s hard to tell because if the deer are cruising for doe’s they probably will enter the bedding area near my stand??
