I want to hint that I want one of these for Fathers Day. I want affordable like under $200 bucks I see the reviews anyone have opinions or knowledge of any of the Garmin Nuvi's or the Tom Tom? Simplicity and ease of use are mandatory I played football.:d

My wife and I both have Garmin Nuvi 205w's and love them. IMO they're all you need for a "basic" GPS. No bluetooth, traffic reports, movie times, spoken street names, etc. Just where you're at and where you need to go. I only use mine a few times a month so all the fancy bells and whistles just didn't do much for me considering the added expense. You can find them online for $160, which is a pretty good deal IMO.

I've got the 255, which is almost the same version as Justin recommended above except mine says the street names and announces you're getting close to your next turn. Only reason I got that one is that Bass Pro had it marked down to around $149 for a special sale they were doing last year; I think it regularly retails for around $180 or so.

The talking is kinda cool when you're in a big city as it's probably kept me from missing a turn a time or two. Don't know if the Tom Toms have this feature, but on the Nuvis they come with a card reader so you can check your trail cameras out in the woods with it.

I've used both the Tom Tom and Garmins, and I just like the way the Tom Tom works better.

I did not know about the card reader though, that is awesome.

Dont over look the Navigon. We have one and absolutely love it. We picked it up for about $150 and it was well worth it.

Garmin Nuvi. They have lots of different models and would certainly have one to meet your needs. They go from basic to extravegant.

I have the Nuvi 255W and I love it. It says street names, has a card reader...all that stuff. It's not necessary though. For what it sounds like you want a 205 would be perfect. Tons of people have them.

The Garmin Nuvi series is tough to beat, both for price, ease of use, features, and accuracy. I've used every GPS model that Garmin has ever made, and many from Tom Tom, Magellan, etc... Right now I own a Nuvi. Lots of different models & features within the series, to suite your needs, depending on what exactly you want.

One question is the 4.3" screen considerably nicer than the 3.5"? About a 40 dollar difference.

Tribal, I can't speak to how nice the widescreen version is, as I've never owned it or even played with it... Having said that though, I feel the normal screen gives me everything I would ever need. If I need to see more or less screen, I can just zoom in or out as needed.

If you end up getting one of these, you'll appreciate some of its features. Case in point: We took both boys in the car down to Mobile, Al., to see some relatives last Thanksgiving. That meant our youngest wasn't quite 2 years old at the time, which meant more stops than I'd normally like.

We were getting ready to find a place to eat dinner, so I hit the buttons to find eating places. I found a few places up ahead of us for the next several exits, and since we'd been in the car for over six hours at that time, my wife suggested we find some place with a kids' play area. Now it doesn't show you which restaurants have that feature, but I could click on each restaurant which would give me the full address and phone number. A couple quick calls as we were approaching and we found the ideal place to make a quick pit stop without driving around haphazardly wasting time.
