I have everything I need but I still need some of the things I want. So what do you guys hope Santa brings you? Here is my short list. 1. Pruning shears (I broke mine yesterday. 2. Briar pants for shed hunting and deer retrieval 3. Good butchering set (any recommendations) 4. Maybe some warmer camo too
New table saw. Probably Grizzly Polar Bear hybrid. Need to start stocking up on bigger stationary equipment.
I just bought myself a new mini-lathe to make some turkey calls for spring...so I closed out my own Christmas list. I would really like a month with NO MARINES DYING IN AFGHANISTAN and would give up everything just for that. I'm simple like that.
I just bought myself a new pistol. She's pretty much alright with that being my xmas present, as am I. Donnie, the Predator Fleece kicks ass in cold weather. Invested in a set last year, it's paid for itself.
Do yourself a favor and skip the Gerber pruners, they suck. I broke mine the first time I used them and subsequently tossed them in the garbage. Got a pair of the Lane Makers from Treehopper and haven't looked back.
A new trail cam to replace my crappy Moultrie. Looking at the Trophy Cam by Bushnell. New Boots. Probably Irish Setters New knife. Spending Cash for the Rose Bowl. New Coffee maker New GPS. Probably Garman Vista HCX Another Scent lock tote.
Ben....I started to order the fleece a month back but couldn't decide on Fall gray or deception. It has the wind barrier, right? Thats something I really need. Justin: Thanks for the recommendation. That Gerber pruner is exactly what I had yesterday and it snapped in two. I just read your review of the Lane Makers. I'm definitely gonna pick them up. Didn't see them in the BH.com store though. Brad: You'll be happy with the trophy cam. It takes decent pics and has an amazing battery life. Don't forget its very compact as well.
The biggest thing I want is reliability. The Moultires don't fair so well in this regard. Second is battery life.
I would like a deer cart or a good thick deep plastic/rubber sled you can strap a deer in. The ones for Ice Fishing are to big and the ones for kids are to small and cheap.
Truthfully, I don't usually keep the wind barrier zipped in very much, but it's a nice feature to have especially when you are sitting in a treestand and wearing pants. I use bibs sometimes in the late season and take the wind barrier out as it's not necessary in that case.
I want camo, or any christmas present, that pays for itself. How do I find those? Santa, I want a Hooyman saw. I've been good, I swear. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar. They don't deserve presents like I do. Thanks, Vito
We don't stock them anymore, but you can get them direct from Treehopper. http://www.treehopperllc.com/catalog/1-2/products/lanemaker.html
I also have been giving the jacket and pants a thought. What kind of temps are you wearing these in? Also when you take the wind barrier out, can you use it for warmer weather?
Not really, The wind barrier only really protects from wind shooting up your back. I've used the jacket more than the pants. The only real downside to the set is the button on the pants. I've upgraded mine. Tempwise, they aren't too warm to wear on those October mornings that start out in the mid to high 40s, and with proper layering, I have worn them as cold as it gets here in PA.
