Ok im in the market for a nice camera to film me my families and my friends hunts. What im looking for is a camera that will hold up in the weather conditions. One thats not to big or bulky id like something smaller. It has to film clear is my main thing in all light conditions i would like a nice clear video to review and post. Maybe one with night vision to film a couple yote hunts and night but thats not needed more like a option. and possibly one with multiple mounting brackets for different things like trees or stands or ground blinds. Any and all that you can recommend would be great thanx.

Are you looking for a POV camera?

Maybe Im not really sure this will be my first camera purchase. I just want a really nice camera that will capture great clear footage of our hunts in all light conditions mainly. My buddy has a wildgame bow mount and a action cam of some sort but it's blury and in low light you can't see anything.

What sort of budget are you working with? This is going to determine which cameras we're going you point to towards. Keep in mind they range from $300 to $5,000 and more.

I'd look at something like this for just starting out.

Canon VIXIA HF R500 Whitetail Package

If you have a little extra room in the budget I'd look into getting a decent tripod for filming while on the ground or doing any sort of interviews.

I shoot with a Canon G20 and love it. At the upper endof your price range.

I actually ordered the one justin suggested. With 2 extra batteries and cards and some other stuff. I cant wait to get it and test it out in april bow hunting turkeys. Ill most likely post a review and video about it.

If you can find the Canon Vixia HF M500 series camera its small, light and has a the same image sensor as the Canon Vixia G20. with the larger sensor it does great in low light. The down side is that you only get 10X zoom. You can but lens to help increase that but that can get expensive. If you can't find it the Vixia G20 is in your price range at Best Buy and is pretty decent just a little bigger.

Isn't that a bit heavy for on your bow? I can see a POV camera on your stabilizer. Plus with all the features that has why not put it on a tree arm?

I primarily hunt south texas and finding a mesquite branch sturdy enough might be a little tough. Plus off season I do a lot of spot n stalk night hunts for pigs. Honestly, I haven't even shot my bow with the camera mounted so I hope it shoots the same

If you are able to put a treestand up you can mount a camera arm then too. As far as the spot and stalk goes you can get a tripod and use that. The video you get from bow mounted cameras isn't great. You would be better off having a POV camera on your bow.

Never hunted from a tree stand. I would have to figure out how to use the arm with a tripod ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395845904.695924.jpg

Pic was not taken in south texas. I also hunt the hill country. With a big enough oak, I can probably use the arm.

Good choice, I'm running the same set up almost, just a HFR400 instead. nice small light compact camera. I think its a great set up to start out filming. I won't lie though I am already looking at cameras to see what I should get next cause the not having a LANC input for a remote is killing me! lol. Other than that its great for the value. Im running mine with a Audio Techinca Pro 24 shotgun mic, Campbells wrap around mount, Manfrotto 128rc fluid head, Lone Wolf Camera Arm and also got the Manfrotto 190XB Tripod. Leaning towards the G10 or G20 or even the XA10 for my next camera I think if this all goes well for me lol. Did you buy the package from Campbells?

Congrats on the new set up, enjoy it!!! :tu:

Canon HV30. By far the best camera for the money. You can get one off ebay $400 to $500. Its HD so the quality is outstanding!! You can get after market accessories for it too... like better lenses and microphones. Get a mic for it and you'll have one of the best little damn cameras out there!!!!!
