Some people say that if you eat a lot of garlic food it will keep the mosquitoes away because the scent will leave your pores after digestion.

So take whitetail hunting. How much does what you eat affect how much scent your body puts out? Does it affect it? Is this something you concern yourself with?

I'm sure most people on here think about what food does to your breath but what about other scent released by your body from the food you eat?

I avoid baked beans, because I know the deer don't like the smell expelled from my azz hole + plus it's a fire hazzard...and one you don't want in a treestand is a god damn fire. LMAO

At the IBEP course, one of the instructors talked about when he was in Vietnam and for 10 days before they went on a long patrol, they would all go vegetarian and they could smell the Vietnamese from the fish sauce they ate...

made me think about what I eat and how it affects my overall scent posture

People who eat different diets emit different odors. I'm pretty sure that deer can tell they are all not other deer. Unless you want to come up with a way to smell just like a deer, I'd say you have to observe scent control and play the wind.

I am not suggesting we get to the point of eating certain foods for hunting. I would never get to that point. In fact, I have a nasty tradition where on morning sits I have coffee as the sun rises. I know it probably can hurt me but I enjoy it and that is what hunting is all about to me.

The reason for my post was about discussion if a guy ate jalapeño brats the night before a hunt. Will this affect his scent and if so how much. Just curious if anyone else worries about this. I know I don't.

thats all that matter is that you are enjoying what you are doing

I have no idea about the idea of eating different foods effect your scent i would assume so that if you ate something like jalapenos it would give you a different smell that deer wouldn't know

I just say stay away from foods that could possibly make you gassy or crap your pants because the last thing you want to do is have to get down to go the bathroom when the activity is kicking in!
