Any bow shooting anything close to normal speeds will hit the 10 ring on a McKenzie deer target with the same pin between roughly 6 yards and 24 yards if sighted in at 22 for dead nuts. That's why when I was shooting pins competitively I started at 22 with my first pin. I can hit the X ring every time on a McKenzie target at 15 yards with a 20 yard pin as well, so no need to start with a 15 yard pin.......it's just unnecessary.
Very good point. I don't have near the experience with a bow as you do. And now that I think about it I always was able to hit the same with my 20 pin closer than 20.
20 30 40 50 60 I also have the react by trophy ridge I will take a 60 yars shot with this sight all day if I had to!! Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Once you get under 5 yards or so you actually want to start using your longer distance pins. We used to have clubs put out a 3 yard racoon, turkey, or beaver target a few times a year and usually you would want to shoot it for like 60 yards and you would pinwheel it.
Wow that's nuts. Haha. But makes sense since it hits before the arrow has a chance to plane off. (If that's what you would call it)
I set up at 15,22,35 when I use the 22 @ 15 yards I'm consistently 2" high and the 22 at 15 I'm consistently 3" high. I'm shooting 60# so arrow speed should't be a factor could there be a set up issue or just my shoot ability?
20-30-40-50-60 to tell the truth I don't know why I even have 50-60 pin I have never out of my 17 yrs of bowhunting shot over 40 yrs and only once was ata 40yds
I have a HHA single pin. I set it for 30 yards as soon as I get in the tree. If I have time I will adjust it to what the animal is if it happens fast I will just compensate where I hold on the deer.
This is pretty logical! I use my 20 out to 30 yards from my treestand and have to 'concentrate' to make closer in shots...I'm going to set a 10 yarder too and try it out.
Right now I have a 4 pin sight set at 20,30,40,50. I'm looking a a three pin slider for the upcoming season, though. SCFox
20, 30, 35, and 40 as of right now. The last is a floater that I can adjust if I wanna practice beyond 40
I'm currently using a single pin with my tape being 15, 25, 35, and 45. When hunting I usually keep it at 25 with adjustments made if needed.
