Do exactly what I do now, family/recreation, home projects, scouting, I love my summers off. :)

I'd spend allot of time In the big woods of northern Minnesota learning more about the black bear. Also the summer projects that never seem to go away.

I would fish a lot and get yelled at for not having home improvement projects finished because I was always fishing :)

Seriously, I did have one summer off cause I got laid off in May about 8-9 yrs ago. I fished a LOT. But I did manage to also get some home improvement projects done, but it was a catch 22. Had the time but not the money.
I seriously think I should have been a teacher....I envy you guys

I love it! I grew up coming up to Ely to visit my dad and step-mom. It's absolutely beautiful up here, but pretty difficult to grow anything in the 4" of acidic soil that sits on top of the greenstone and iron.

The people are great, you get a little bit of everything up here: rednecks, hippies, locals, transplants, retirees... very eclectic for sure. The population is about 3500 but that swells in the summer when the snowbirds return. Then on weekends like this (Blueberry Festival) we have 40,000 + roll through town.

Personally, we primarily eat fish and venison (and some grouse). We don't buy meat unless we're having a bunch of guests over for grilling or something. We did join a CSA this summer out of Two Harbors, so we are receiving tons of produce each week. I'm looking forward to filling the freezer again this fall.

Check out the chambers website @ www.ely.org :hijacked::busted: I'm done now :tu:

Spring black bear hunt. Then a late summer pronghorn hunt. Of course there would be a lot shooting, scouting for the fall, and fishing in between.

Very cool Fitz. It sounds like you are living a wonderful life in that town. I am quite envious.

Put a little dark beer in it David. About 4 to 6 oz especially if you are using a blender. Makes em real smooth.

Summers off...hmmmmm I think I have them off and I will always have something to do around here taking care of the place, fishing and gardening. Just cutting the lawn takes all afternoon. Every evening is happy hour and that always eats up a few hours.
