I am looking to purchases a compact new (or at least newer) HD videocamera to film my upcoming whitetail and fishing adventures for the 2013 season. I am looking to spend a max of $700 but would ideally like to be in the less than 500 range. That $ includes bags, mics, cords, charger, additional battery, cords (HDMI), and etc.

That said, I am looking for advice on how to best spend my money. What cameras would work best for me at this price point? Also, is there a specific website to follow closely in looking for camera equipment online? (I watch this one religiously). Thanks in advance for any advice you may have for me.

    What he said.

I have a Canon Vixia HF S100 and am very happy with it. Video quality is great and so is the built in mic. I was able to find my camera on a Craigslist listing for a great price and then bought my accessories on Amazon and other websites.

I like my cannon MF41 but I think they make some even smaller ones.

You'll find the prices may vary on the same model because of battery size and a large battery can cost up to $100. Just be ready for that when shopping.
I've found some cheaper batteries online but some I had to return because of the chips they put in the new battery's and some the camera didn't recognize. Just an FYI.
    Good luck.
