Before we invested in a tractor we did all of our food plot work with my 850. We sold it and kept my wife's 850 to buy more toys. We used discs that were too big for it and drug harrow drags all over. These machines are like anything else. Opinions are strong and beliefs are even stronger. If you've had good luck with one you stick with it. You couldn't give me a Mahindra tractor. Just an opinion. We use to have Kawasaki Mules at work. That was a long time ago. At that time they weren't much of a machine. We don't have the extra money to buy one just to see if it is better or not. We've had great luck with Polaris and see no need to change.
The ranch I work on owned 4 Polaris ATV's as recently as 2014, I traded for the two Ranger 800 crews we have now. Dad's side of the family have always been Polaris peeps and the family farm my uncle operated had several sizes and year ranges. That was back in the 90's. I've never owned any personally, the ones I spent time around were more than I cared to ever have experience with. I probably spent more time with the later model ones that I traded for the Ranger crews on the ranch than any others. Three of those (1)500(2007) and (2)550's(2008, 2009) were always trouble except the newer one was an 2010 Sportsman 850. It wasn't too bad but I pulled some implements with it and I felt my 700 Suzuki was stronger and more comfortable. They all felt like they had a brake locked on them all the time but it was just their nature. I hated those damn things. The 2014 800 Ranger crews I've been fairly satisfied with though their cooling systems and their drive belts are a weak point around heavy farm work. The one I use the most pulls a boat/trailer a little bit and a 60gal skid sprayer in the bed as well as hauls ~600# of grain a dozen times once per week. I had to have the cooling system worked on on it and the drive belt had to be replaced a month ago. I think it has about 400 hours on it currently. Polaris models were (best I recall) 335's, 500's, 550's, 800, 850 and the six wheel big boss. They ranged in years from early 90's to 2010. Been around more than that but the early 90's models my uncle owned was long enough ago I don't recall what they were exactly. ATV's in general have experience with Kawasaki's prairies, bayous and a couple of the late 2000 brute force and two mules. Owned or had family that owned Kawasaki ATVs scattered across the years starting with the one I owned in 1985 (185). Been around more Kawasaki's than anything else but most were pre-2000. I've owned three, the rest were friends and family. Honda, about the same as experience with Kawasaki except I never owned any. I have less experience with Yamaha's but been around a few Grizzly models nothing smaller than a 550. 2005 Suzuki King Quad 700 (I currently own). Been around a handful of other older ones. Can AM outlander 650 (Sister and brother in law) Arctic Cat 700 (owned and traded), 500 (Brother in law) (cousin) Bombardier, don't even recall what size it was but it wasn't very big, equivalent to a 500 or a 550 . (Cousin) Been around a few Argo 6 and 8 wheelers as well all have been fairly old and were impractical for anything but use around duck marshes. I believe they were all early to mid 90's models. Limited experience other than just riding and driving around in them. John Deere 2004 Trail buck(?) (uncle) It was an oddball but drove okay from what I recall. He traded it for a newer one but I've never been around it.
*UPDATE* So I went ahead and changed the brakes last night and the OO said that it didn't have shoes. But wouldn't you know I found break shoes with no ceramic and about a pound and a half of dust in the housing. So ill be rebuilding this four wheeler slowly.
I have a 2016 Kawasaki brute force 750. It's a total beast!! The power is incredible. It will pull you through anything, especially after getting rid of the crappy stock tires and getting some with some good tread. So far I've only got 260 miles or so on it. It's been great so far though. I hope it lasts me a real long time. It does everything from food plotting to hard high speed trail rides with my buddies. The only other machine I would of got is the new Honda rubicon foreman 500. I initially went to the dealer to get one but the brute force was only $100 more. For a hundred bucks I couldn't turn down all the power the brute force provides. My last wheeler was a 2008 Honda foreman 500 and while it was no power house or very fast, it was stone cold reliable. I beat the snot out of it and it never gave up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Same tires I have on my Suzuki, had them on there since 2006 and never had a flat and they're still in great shape despite thorns and gravel.
Good to hear! I love these tires so far. The grip is awesome. Surprisingly smooth riding on the trails and rocks as well. They aren't that expensive either which was surprising. I look forward to at least a couple years of life out of them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
