This Feb I am going on an all archery pig hunt in Texas. I am not sure what camo to wear. The guys I am going with have gone to this ranch before. Pretty much you are hunting out of brush blinds or doing some spot and stalk.. The guys that have hunted previously have worn ghillie suits and have had success doing that. My question is to anyone that has hunted hogs down south.. what have you worn. I do not want to take my good archery camo.. so I was thinking about taking some of my old bottom lands camo or some old waterfowl stuff. I plan on purchasing some sort of ghillie suit, mainly because I think it would be fun to wear.. but what else would you recommend? I've never hunted in Texas before and I have never hunted pigs.

You don't need to buy new camo to hunt hogs in Texas or anywhere else. I've killed a lot of hogs with a bow and any camo pattern will work for spot and stalk hunting. I killed a huge sow last weekend in carhart pants and a plaid shirt. Use your bottom lands came and hunt. Hogs don't have good eyesight but they will detect movement very well. Their sense of smell is awesome too. Good luck!

Sorry! Their eyesight isn't that great, their nose is what you need to worry about. IMO

no need to worry, you'll be fine in any camo pattern really. just stay upwind if all possible.

I agree with all the others who say they can't see too well. They're so cautious and move their heads so much it looks like their staring at you... never have been busted for being seen.

I also agree about that sense of smell. Make sure to hunt the wind. I got busted by this big boar once at 70 yards. He paced the lane and knew something was wrong and decided not to take a chance. From my observation, sows with piglets are the dumbest - they just kind of walk in without checking the area a lot of times.... I guess they got a lot of mouths to feed. When boars are in the pack they seem to have established formations with the smarter ones never coming to the feeder and using the piglets like cannon fodder. And lone boars always seem to be the most cautious.

Of course this is only in my area. I'm sure they act differently in different places.
