Ok, here is the scenario....My wife's grandparents own the 10 acres of woods right behind my house that I hunt 95% of the time. Last year I miss the same buck that is in my avatar picture while hunting this property. I have hunted the property for the last 3 years. My wife's uncle has hunted the property a couple of times in that 3 year period but that is it. I helped them with whatever I can whenever I can. Now there is an 11 pointer that has shown up this year along with the 10 pt. I missed. With these two bucks running around back there I am being squeezed out of this property by her family now. I have tried to coordinate with her uncle on hunting days that way we both have a chance to hunt these bucks. However, he tells me he is going one day but doesn't and then doesn't say anything to me and goes into the woods before I get off work today and I didn't know it until I was dressed and headed out the door to the stand. This all started about a week before the season opened so I didn't have time to get another property let alone scout another property. I have planted food plots the last two years for these deer and worked my butt off to try and get the biggest deer of my life. What is a guy to do when he is getting the shaft by his in-laws like this? I feel as though I have tried to work with them on this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everybody for listening to me vent.
Move on, that 10 acres is way overhunted by this time anyway. There is no way two mature bucks are going to stick to 10 acres with that kind of pressure.
I would not move, that 10 acres has something that attracts deer 2 or 3 guys could hunt that woods without a problem so long as you leave the core/bedding areas alone. Lots of big bucks been killed in smaller tracts then that. Heck 3/4 mile from my honey hole farm there is a field with a 1 acre patch of briar and scrub brush, guy went up during muzzleloader 4 years ago while walking out of the field after a morning hunt to see if any rabbits sign was there and kicked up a HUGE 14 point that scored 198" gross, he got it to stop and shot it. Farmer said " Well heck yeah that guys been living there for 3 years or better"
I forgot to add, just tell the Uncle, hey I got permission to hunt here also, so let me know where your at when your out there and I'll go to the other side. Don't budge, they'll walk all over you Lets put it this way I have permission at this great farm, 132 acres. Got my partner to permission, all me, the owner is a great friend of mine, like a father to me. I am MR. Nice guy when I hunt, let others pick the stands first, figure if God wants me to have a deer I'll get one. But on the same note I let someone have enough rope to hang themselves also. Well my partner is about at the end of his rope. Pulled a fiascal last year that he got caught up lying to me and I called him. He still tries to dictate where I hunt and tries to get first pick. Heck two weeks ago we hunted opening 3 days and the 3rd day I went out to the corner he shot a doe in opening day adn he had to follow in his climber, set up in a tree only 50 yards or less then me. So when I saw that and I moved to another stand on the outside corner and shot a nice doe. Karma, keep on being a nice guy , but still hunt, just take what you can get, you'll win
also forgot to mention that ur little brother put alot of work in the food plot and erecting treestands for the 10 acres and now they wont let him hunt it at all.
What to do? Yes little bro, I did forget to mention that as well. My post was getting to long so I did leave some stuff out. Amazing how seeing big bucks change the way a person acts, and how they treat others. Would love to find some land to lease so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Oh well, we will see what happens. Unfortunately, the other end of the property is the bedding area so I feel like I need to stay away from it.
