We have a NE wind for the next day or so. It is raining and I finally get a couple days off from farming. Times a killer for me during harvest. You get a day off... you better take advantage of it cause you have no idea when you will get off next !!

I've been chasing two mid 150's bucks but that's not going to happen with this wind. NE winds are horrid for me except in one spot but the Buck calling this place home would be lucky to go 135.

We have 2.5 sets of sheds off him in the last 3 years. He is 5.5 years old so definitely mature. I've got a lot of history with him. He is an easy one to pattern of all the bucks I'm hunting. Heck I can actually find a damn tree to kill him out of instead of ground hunting which I do 99.9 % of my hunting. I passed on him last year but he is a mini racked stud and was tempting. I saw him last night and the temptation is worse. He has a very bad habit of roaming with lots of daylight left for a pm hunt. :)

    What's a guy to do ???

If it will put a smile on my face as I hold it, its going down. So ask yourself if he will do the same.

Tony... I would gladly let you have a crack at this buck and you could keep your tags.

Let the Air out of him, then go buy another tag from some other state and go hunting some more.

I was thinking how much time will you have and how many tags will you have.In my home woods if I can take him I would. In your's for me it would be a function of available time.
If you would regret taking him than I wouldn't. I am sure not an easy decision for you or you wouldn't have posed your question.
I wish good luck and success with what ever you choose!

You have a 5.5 year old that you have history with, he scores well (albeit not as well as some other bucks), and you have limited time to hunt.

I'd say you go for it. As patternable as he is, it's still hunting and nothing is guaranteed. At 5.5 he's not getting any bigger and he looks plenty good in your pics.

    Good luck.

I am sure glad I threw that history clause in our little private contest which you agreed to !!

Since I have pictures and sheds that should be good for the full 15 bonus points. That puts him around 150 give or take a few... ok probably take a few. You still would have your work cut out for you. Oh and remember... only pictures from summer scouting count for bonus pts !! Summer is over. Put those trail cams away !!! LOL

Lol, if I had a buck begged that met my standards, I would be THRILLED. To have a buck like that pegged, it wouldn't even be a decision. :D
